The accolades keep rolling in for the Los Angeles Galaxy.

On Wednesday, four members of the Galaxy earned a spot on the MLS All-Star team that will take on Manchester United on July 28th in Houston's Reliant Stadium. Donovan Ricketts, Landon Donovan, Edson Buddle and Omar Gonzalez will make 1/4th of the roster that will face the English powerhouse.

For Omar Gonzalez, it was truly a special honor in what is still a fledgling career for the 21-year-old defender.

"The best part about it is that my peers think that I'm one of the best players during the first part of the season," said Gonzalez. "I'm extremely honored to be selected to this team and I'm really happy about this."

The second-year defender has been a vital cog in a defense that has only given up four goals through the first five months of the season. The 21-year-old Gonzalez has started in every league game for the Galaxy bar last week's 2-0 loss to the New England Revolution, which he missed due to yellow card accumulation.

The Galaxy were clearly missing the presence that the defender provides as the club appeared sluggish as they were overrun by a previously struggling New England side. The club will now travel to the nation's capital to take on their traditional rivals D.C. United as the club looks to get back on track after two straight losses.

"The match is going to be a hot one because its always humid there and they had a rough start of the season so they'll be fired up to play us," said Gonzalez. "We're top of the table and we just need to be focused and ready to play against them."

While the All-Star selection is the ultimate honor for Gonzalez, the veteran Buddle is a bit low key on his selection. Buddle has been selected to the All-Star team once before in 2008 and will be making his first appearance on the First XI. The forward was a lock for All-Star selection as Buddle is the current league leader in scoring with ten goals and is enjoying one of the best seasons of his career after making the United States World Cup squad.

"I'm glad to be selected because it means a great deal coming from the fans and its all part of a team effort," said Buddle. "It's a privilege to be a part of the team and it's a great achievement."

The All-Star match will come the same week as the Galaxy's CONCACAF Champion's League play-in with the Puerto Rico Islanders. The club expects to put their first team against the U.S. Division 2 side, but the club's all-stars have asked to be a part of the Houston game as well.

Although the focus is on the All-Star game and the club's trip to D.C. United this weekend, Buddle was not afraid to extend a welcome to recent Red Bulls signing Thierry Henry.

"We'll see how he does, I'm sure that he's going to do well with all his experience," said Buddle. "I'm glad I'm not a defender."
