The UEFA Champions League draw wasn't the only notable news to come out of Monaco on Thursday. Also announced during the draw were the 2009-2010 UEFA Club Footballers of the Year awards, which champions Inter Milan swept. The voting panel consisted of the 16 coaches who reached the knockout stage of last season's Champions League.
The winners were:
GOALKEEPER OF THE YEAR: Julio Cesar, Inter Milan
(Other nominees: Hugo Lloris, Lyon; Victor Valdes, Barcelona)
DEFENDER OF THE YEAR: Maicon, Inter Milan
(Other nominees: Lucio, Inter Milan; Gerard Pique, Barcelona)
MIDFIELDER OF THE YEAR: Wesley Sneijder, Inter Milan
(Other nominees: Arjen Robben, Bayern Munich; Xavi, Barcelona)
FORWARD OF THE YEAR: Diego Milito, Inter Milan
(Other nominees: Lionel Messi, Barcelona; Wayne Rooney, Manchester United)
PLAYER OF THE YEAR: Diego Milito, Inter Milan
