The final piece of Sporting Kansas City’s MLS Cup back four will be returning for 2014.

While pen hasn’t been put to paper quite yet, Chance Myers has reportedly agreed to terms for a new deal with the club and will be joining the squad in Tucson, Ariz. for preseason “soon,” Myers’ agent revealed via Twitter on Wednesday.

Sources tell SBI that the contract has been agreed to, and the new deal is a three-year contract.

The 26-year-old right back had previously been out of contract and was said to be exploring options overseas in Europe. Myers had also been seeking an increase in pay. His 2013 base salary ranked sixth in MLS among all right backs at $105,000.

The former No. 1-overall pick of the 2008 MLS SuperDraft, Myers started 26 games in the 2013 regular season for Sporting KC, scoring twice and adding three assists on their way to the MLS Cup title. He will join up with Sporting KC at their preseason camp in Tucson, Ariz. in the next few days.

Myers spent most of January training with the U.S. Men’s National Team and traveled and trained with the squad on their 12-day trip to Brazil. He was released from the squad last Saturday as the USMNT returned to Los Angeles.

Specifics of the deal have not yet been disclosed.
