Although they’ve been eliminated from the playoffs, the Montreal Impact are beginning to show positive signs late in the season.

Behind two late goals from Jack McInerney and Dilly Duka, the Impact defeated the San Jose Earthquakes, 2-0, at Stade Saputo on Saturday evening, winning for the second time in a week, including their CONCACAF Champions League victory midweek against the New York Red Bulls. The Impact’s performance on Saturday earned them SBI MLS Team of the Week honors.

The Impact beat out the Portland Timbers, LA Galaxy, and Columbus Crew for this week’s honors.

  1. The Red Bulls demolition of Seattle was the most impressive result of the week. Portland getting their playoff fate back in their hands with a convincing win over Vancouver (after a shaky start) is also more signficant

  2. This choice is way off. NY and Seattle each were worthy, with winning hardware > a few league wins, even against conference leaders. Head scratcher.

  3. I can see how defeating a NY Red Bull “B” team in CONCACAF play could look good on paper.. and of course San Jose is such a powerhouse in the West this year too… (oh wait, they’re at the bottom of the table too). Yeah… great choice.

    • Add to the fact that they are already eliminated from the playoffs. They should just play the young kids for the rest of the season.
