Landon Donovan’s final send-off match may have lacked fireworks, but it was a special moment all the same. SBI’s Franco Panizo was on the scene to hear Donovan’s post-game reaction, as well as from coach Jurgen Klinsmann and the match’s other players.

The big headline was Donovan’s retirement, but the U.S. Men’s National Team rolls on. Klinsmann called in a new batch of players over the weekend, including Clint Dempsey and Michael Bradley, for their game Tuesday in Florida. And U.S. Soccer has not confirmed it, but Croatia announced Saturday they expect a friendly against the USMNT next month in England.

Meanwhile, Major League Soccer playoff implications this weekend were huge. While a handful of teams clinched their spots or were knocked out, others kept themselves in the fight — especially the Vancouver Whitecaps, who handed the Seattle Sounders a shocking loss. Meanwhile, the New England Revolution, Real Salt Lake, Sporting Kansas City and FC Dallas will move onto the postseason while teams like Philadelphia Union and the Houston Dynamo saw their playoff hopes crushed.

  1. Good luck in life Donovan but please tell kilnsi to have a whole different team by 2018 🙂 we all know why 🙂 and something out if the blue, would Bruce arena ever take the Toronto job and then retire after making Toronto MLS champions.

    • As long as Bruce stays away from the National team Im okay with whatever. Good Manager but I don’t like the man’s rather ethnocentric attitude.

      • Some hispanic supporters of the USMNT say the same thing. He’ll overlooks people actually from the US in favor of Germericans any chance he gets.
