Playoff soccer is ready to kick off once again in MLS.
D.C. United hosts the New England Revolution in Wednesday’s first first-round matchup (7:30 p.m., UniMas), while the Seattle Sounders welcome the LA Galaxy to CenturyLink Field later in the evening (10 p.m., UniMas).
Teams only have one shot to advance to the conference semifinals in 2015, as each matchup in the first round of the MLS Cup Playoffs simply serves as a one-off knockout game this season.
While both teams at RFK Stadium have struggled down the final stretch of the regular season, D.C. United is hoping that it can add another important win to its strong home record. Meanwhile, the Galaxy find themselves in an odd predicament, as the reigning MLS Cup winners must play away from home in the first round of this year’s tournament in order to start its repeat run. The Sounders, led by Clint Dempsey and Obafemi Martins, will hope to put an end to that run tonight.
