Following the retirements of Marcos Senna and Raul, the New York Cosmos’ roster continues to take shape with the first batch of offseason moves.

The Cosmos announced Thursday that the contracts of Haji Wright, Kharlton Belmar, Samuel Cáceres, John Neeskens and Keasel Broom have expired and will not be renewed by the club at this time. In addition, the loan deal for Philadelphia Union midfielder Leo Fernandes has expired, although the Cosmos remain hopeful of working out a deal to keep Fernandes with the club.

Wright’s departure comes less than one year after signing with the club. An integral part of the U.S. Under-17 Men’s National Team throughout this summer’s World Cup, Wright played a majority of 2015 with Cosmos B, making three appearances and registering one assist with the senior club.

Caceres and Belmar depart following the expiration of their loans from Argentine side Nueva Chicago and Portland Timbers 2, respectively.

The club also announced that  midfielders Sebastián Guenzatti, Adam Moffat and Ruben Bover and forward David Diosa have signed contract extensions to remain with the club. The four resigning join  Jimmy Maurer, Carlos Mendes, Hunter Freeman, Rovérsio, Ayoze, Alexis Velela, Danny Szetela, Andrés Flores and forward Lucky Mkosana as those that comprise the Cosmos roster as things stand.

“We have a lot of talent here at the Cosmos, but we’re always looking to strengthen our squad,” said Cosmos Head Coach and Sporting Director Giovanni Savarese. “I’m extremely proud of what this team was able to accomplish last season. Now we are ready to build for 2016.”
