Much of the focus in MLS this week is on Thursday’s schedule release for the entire season and Friday’s start to the MLS Combine. Here, however, are some other news and notes from around the league:

The Columbus Crew have been so impressed with the job head coach Gregg Berhalter has done that they have signed him to a multi-year extension. Berhalter, who is also the club’s sporting director, was approached about a new deal before the end of the 2015 campaign. (REPORT)

Diego Fagundez has signed a new, multi-year deal with the New England Revolution. The 20-year-old attacker has registered 28 goals and 18 assists in his five-year career (REPORT)

After rumblings of the move made the rounds Tuesday evening, Ghanaian winger Patrick Nyarko has now officially completed his move to D.C. United. The experienced speedster leaves the Chicago Fire after racking up 196 appearances in eight seasons, adding 19 goals and 39 assists in that time. (REPORT)

You supposedly can add another name to this year’s Generation adidas class, as Akron midfielder Richie Laryea has reportedly come to terms on a deal with MLS. Laryea, a 20-year-old Canadian, had a team-high 11 goals and assisted on seven others for Akron in 2015. (REPORT)

New York City FC has added a member to its front office, hiring Jon Patricof as the new president of the club. Patricof was the formerly the president of the parent company for the Tribeca Film Festival. He will begin his new role in March, and will be aided by current NYCFC president Tom Glick through the spring. (REPORT)

Former LA Galaxy captain Peter Vagenas continues his move up the ladder at the MLS franchise, earning a promotion to Vice President of Soccer Operations on Wednesday. Vagenas has served as Director of LA Galaxy’s academy since 2013, but will now oversee the soccer operations of the LA Galaxy first team, Los Dos, and the academy. (REPORT)

How wise a move was it by the Crew to lock up Berhalter? What do you expect out of Fagundez in the coming years? Where do you think Laryea will end up this month? See the Patricof hiring as a good one?
