Julian Green stole the show on Wednesday.
The Bayern Munich forward was held quiet for most of Wednesday’s DFB-Pokal clash with Augsburg before popping up just before halftime for his side’s second goal. A flicked on header on a cross from Thomas Muller, Green’s finish, his first competitive goal, helped propel Bayern to a 3-1 win that keeps them in the domestic cup competition.
Matt Miazga also helped his side advance in cup play. The on-loan Chelsea defender played all 90 minutes, helping push Vitesse to a 4-1 win over RKC Waalwijk.
Elsewhere, Lynden Gooch and Jerome Kiesewetter entered as late substitutes in losing efforts, while Perry Kitchen’s Hearts fell, 2-0, to Kilmarnock.
