On Tuesday afternoon, MLS Players Union announced the league’s 2017 salaries, and Orlando City’s star Kaka tops the list for a third straight season, while Paraguayan Miguel Almiron is Atlanta United’s highest-paid player.
The Brazilian star is making $7,167,500 in guaranteed compensation in 2017, but Toronto’s Sebastian Giovinco is not too far behind at the number two spot, making a guaranteed $7,115,555 in 2017.
MLS newcomers, Atlanta United, spent approximately $4 million in salaries for their DP attacking trio of Miguel Almiron, Josef Martinez, and Hector Villalba. Almiron, being the highest earner at $2,297,000 for the 2017 season.
Vadim Demidov is Minnesota United’s highest-paid player making $555,008 for the 2017 season.
Michael Bradley’s $6.5 million salary this year continues to make him the highest paid American in the league, with Jozy Altidore coming second at $4,875,000.
New York City’s DP trio of David Villa, Andrea Pirlo, and newly acquired Maxi Moralez cost the club over $13.5 million.
Chicago Fire’s new DP signing Bastian Schweinsteiger is being paid $5.4 million for the season, according to the report, while LA Galaxy spent $1,999,400 for Romain Alessandrini’s services this season.
