It didn’t take Christian Pulisic long to find the back of the net in Borussia Dortmund’s Bundesliga opener.
The 18-year-old scored his first goal and his club’s first goal of the season on Saturday, as he hit a confident shot off a Mario Gotze pass from the right side of the box off the left post and into the net.

The goal is a great sign for the U.S. Men’s National Team in a week full of injury news with the next set of CONCACAF World Cup qualifying matches in two weeks.
No Omar, no Brooks, no Johnson, Yedlin not likely match fit, Lichaj and Miazga not playing, Chandler has been playing as a wing for most of the last year and a half. Our backline for the next qualifiers might look a lot like the GC. At least Campbell is still hurt and Ruiz hasn’t played yet for his club and Honduras only scored in one of its last six matches.
Chandler’s been a wing back in a 3 5 man midfield. He cans till be an outside back for us and his performance for his club DEMANDS respect and a callup from Bruce.
The Next Hazard…
Heretofore I have been impressed with Pulisic. Now I’m excited. What is so great is that you can see him improving, so who knows what he will be in 4 or 5 years. I can’t think of a good comparison, but he could be an international superstar. He certainly should become a world class player that a top club could build a team around.
Iniesta perhaps? Smooth and deft more often than spectacular?
He had an assist for the third goal too. Incredible to watch an American play at this level. 18? This kid is 18. So awesome.
His assist was better than the goal.
Anybody have any links to haji Wright’s goal
I think this should work: https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x5xemwu
i find myself always lookin at the Americans’ teammates’ reactions to goals scored. It’s always great when their teammates are genuinely excited.
