U.S. men’s national team attacker Alex Zendejas is not expected to miss any time after suffering a broken nose in Liga MX action on Saturday.

Zendejas suffered the injury in Club America’s 2-1 league victory over Monterrey after colliding with Mexican international Jesus Gallardo. He is set for surgery following the conclusion of the Liga MX Clausura season (May 28), which would rule him out between four-to-six weeks.

The Concacaf Nations League semifinals and final are scheduled for June 15 and 18 respectively.

“Club America would like to inform that player Alejandro Zendejas suffered a multi-fragmented fracture of bones in his nose after being hit yesterday in the match vs. Monterrey. After being evaluated by a specialist, he was given a less invasive treatment to stabilize the fracture so that later at a more opportune time, surgery can be performed,” the club said in a statement on Sunday.

Leonardo Suarez replaced Zendejas for the final stages of the match as Club America hung on for an important home victory. Zendejas has scored one goal and added two assists in nine league appearances this year.

The 25-year-old midfielder/winger earned his USMNT debut in January, before also appearing in both of the Americans’ Nations League matches this past March. Zendejas scored his first international goal in a 7-1 CNL group stage rout of Grenada before also logging 60 minutes in a 1-0 triumph over El Salvador.

Club America sits third in the Clausura standings with 27 points earned through 14 matches. Fernando Ortiz’s squad visits Cruz Azul on April 15 before matches against Pumas and FC Juarez to close out April’s schedule.
