With the 2009 MLS season set to begin on March 19th, this past weekend was the last chance for all 15 MLS teams to take part in pre-season matches. These final tune-ups should go a long way toward helping teams finalizing starting lineups and work out kinks.
The final batch of games included four matches between MLS teams, six between MLS and USL teams, and one match-up against a South American opponent.
Here is a rundown of each MLS team's final pre-season match:
Houston Dynamo 2, Chivas USA 2.
Chicago Fire 1, Los Angeles Galaxy 1.
Colorado Rapids 1, Seattle Sounders 0.
D.C. United 2, Charleston Battery 0.
Kansas City Wizards 4, Minnesota Thunder 0.
Carolina Railhawks 1, New England Revolution 0.
New York Red Bulls 2, Crystal Palace USA 0.
San Jose Earthquakes 1, Portland Timbers 0.
FC Dallas 1, Atletico Paranaense 0.
Austin Aztecs 1, Columbus Crew 0.
What did you think of these results? Think your team is ready for the new season? Still worried about your squad?

3 days and counting.
the black and red finally got a win YES!!
haha none of this matters until after March 19th.
REALLY looking forward to kickoff this Thursday night.
RSL does look strong, and this pleases me. But I have to say that I think the league as a whole looks pretty strong top to bottom, inlcuding this year’s expansion. I’m sure injuries, etc. will come into play, but it think that it will be a very competitive year.
Austin Aztex FC Vs. MLS pre-season record
1-1-1
We’re coming for you RSL
Not to be too anal, but the RSL/TFC score only shows TFC’s 1 point and not RSL’s 2.
Intentional misspelling police:
Austin spells it Aztex
As an FC Dallas fan just glad we did not give up 4 goal this game. In 3 games down in Brazil we gave up 12 goals. This was a good game and hopefully what will will see most of the season.
Another worried DC fan…
compared to the upgrades RBNY (least on paper) made to its D, I don’t see us bringing in quality where we definitely need it. Then again on paper the two Gonzalos seemed astute buys. Think we will see a lot of goal fests that I hope we are on the W side of.
Preseason is over so let’s see what happens when matches count.
TFC still needs to improve some to make the playoffs.
RSL looked really good against TFC….watch out for them!
Another worried Revs fan here. We lost Parkhurst, and replaced him with…Heaps? Twellman’s still recovering from his shot to the head last August, and we replaced him with…uh, no one. No SOG for 1st 46′ in LAST preseason match vs Railhawks. Ralston hurt, and a year older. This does not look good.
RSL looks very dangerous
Are there any MLS prediction leagues?
It looks wide open, its anyones cup. I’m getting my Direct Kick!
RSL actually gets one more pre-season/exhibition game against the Austin Astex next Saturday due to their bye the first week.
Let’s see. MLS 4 wins, USL-1 2 wins. MLS teams in prep for a month or more. USL-1 in prep for a week. Hmmmm.
Cautiously optimistic that the Galaxy won’t be the worst team in the league this year. Hey, what can I say? I’m aiming low.
Galaxy looked a lot better than I thought they would.
Im a DC fan – you shouldnt be worried until a team loses a lot of games in a row — this is only preseason. Yes, we have a few key injuries – but be optimistic
As well you should be. I suspect Twellman is still not 100%, you still haven’t replaced Parkhurst, and you have tons of question marks. Nicol needs to use some major mojo just to get into the playoffs this year.
Here’s a worried Revs fan…
Any other worried DC Fans??
Not a lot of goals in the last set of pre-season games. Kind of interesting. Seattle has lost a couple of their preseason games right? Just sayin’….
This just in. Liverpool has scored AGAIN!!!!
ives, if possible, projected starting lineups or even depth charts (like you did for the Red Bulls), would be much appreciated.
Repeat BABY! Black and Gold eye coming to Houston!
