The Portland Timbers' chances of reaching the postseason may be slim, but their quest for the 2012 Cascadia Cup got one step closer to becoming a reality after they tied the Seattle Sounders in an entertaining match at JELD-WEN Field on Saturday.

The Timbers grabbed a 1-1 draw with the Sounders in their second meeting of the season courtesy of a late goal from Rodney Wallace, who netted off a low cross from Jack Jewsbury to improve Portland to 2-0-2 in Cascadia Cup matches this season. Portland even had a chance to take the three points in stoppage time, but Bright Dike's low shot from 10 yards out was denied by the post.

Wallace's goal negated a wonderful opener from Fredy Montero in the 57th minute. The Sounders striker got on the end of a bouncing goal kick and blasted a volley into the back of the net to silence an otherwise rowdy Timbers crowd.

The result gives Portland eight points in Cascadia Cup matches this season, three ahead of Seattle and six in front of the Vancouver Whitecaps.

Here are the match highlights:

What do you think of the Timbers' 1-1 draw with the Sounders? Still in awe over Montero's blast? Who do you see claiming the Cascadia Cup this season?
