ORLANDO, Fla. — Orlando City had the possession and the Philadelphia Union had the chances. However, neither had the goal to walk away with three points.

Despite the return of Brazilian star Kaka from injury, Orlando City and the Union competed to a scoreless draw in front of 28,495 in attendance at the Citrus Bowl on Saturday night.

Jim Curtin’s men came close to opening the scoreboard in the 21st minute, when Sebastien Le Toux squeezed past Orlando’s back line, rifling a close-range shot past Tally Hall only to hit the post.

Orlando City answered back with their first real chance of the game in the 51st minute when Luke Boden’s free kick connected with Cyle Larin, who headed the ball over the cross bar.

A lackluster first half from both teams led to an early substitution for Orlando when 19-year-old Conor Donovan succumbed to an early injury in a collision with Union forward C.J. Sapong appeared. The center back appeared to twist his left knee and was substituted out for 18-year-old Tommy Redding,  who made his MLS debut 11 minutes into the game.

Hall provided a heroic save for Orlando City when a Philadelphia counter in the 70th minute placed Cristian Maidana on the verge of a goal. The veteran goalkeeper held firm to deny the Argentine from letting the Union open the scoring.

Up next, Orlando City will travel to the Northwest, when they meet the Seattle Sounders at Century Link Field for the first-and-only time ever this season on Sunday.

OCSC will look to snap their four-game winless skid on the road.  The last time Orlando won away from home was June 6 when they beat the Chicago Fire, 3-2.

The Union return to PPL Park to face the Fire, also on Sunday.
