Philadelphia Union fullback Fabinho is the only returning member of the SBI MLS Best XI, as a majority of the selections hail from the Western Conference.
A pair of Argentine attackers from FC Dallas headline Week 3’s edition of the SBI MLS Best XI, as Mauro Diaz and Maxi Urruti each scored a late goal to help FCD top a dynamic Montreal Impact team. Real Salt Lake playmaker and goal-scorer Joao Plata joins the FC Dallas duo in the midfield after netting his third goal of the season vs. the Portland Timbers.
Not to be outdone, U.S. Men’s National Team winger and forward Gyasi Zardes earns his first selection in the SBI MLS Best XI this season after scoring twice in the LA Galaxy’s 3-1 California Clasico win vs. the San Jose Earthquakes. Teammate Jelle Van Damme was also included in this week’s edition of the Best XI after helping in the buildup to two goals.
Next to Van Damme on the Best XI back line is Kendall Waston. After struggling in the first two weeks of action, Kendall Waston turned in his best performance of the year on Saturday against the Seattle Sounders.
Here is the SBI MLS Best XI for Week 3:

Bobby Shuttleworth saves two PKs and a 1v1 stop, and doesn’t even get an honorable mention? Harsh.
As an RSL fan, I have to say that Adi got hosed a bit this week. Honorable mention isn’t enough, as he was the dominant factor in Portland surviving at home.
Still no love for Matt Besler or Nuno Coelho? SKC’s central defense has been fantastic in all 3 of their wins.
