First round games of 2016 U.S. Open Cup revealed

The quest to the 2016 U.S. Open Cup starts in little over a month, and now we know how the tournament will begin.

U.S. Soccer revealed on Wednesday the full schedule of the first-round games for this year’s U.S. Open Cup, and all teams that will be in action are scheduled to begin play on May 11. Eighteen teams come from the Premier Development League (PDL), 14 from the National Premier Soccer League (NPSL), and 14 from Open Division local qualifiers.

The 21 winners will advance to the second round of the competition, which is set to take place on May 18 and will introduce 17 USL clubs as well as one more team from both the PDL and NPSL.
