Americans Abroad: Weekend Preview

brooks

It’s another busy weekend for Americans Abroad as the schedule heads towards the international break.

Headlining the weekend is a Bundesliga clash between two U.S. Men’s National Team regulars as Bobby Wood’s Hamburg takes on John Brooks and Hertha Berlin. After several weeks away, Brooks is set to return to the Hertha Berlin squad after recovering from an injury. In other Bundesliga action, Christian Pulisic and Borussia Dortmund face Bayer Leverkusen, while Fabian Johnson and Borussia Monchengladbach look to bounce back from a midweek Champions League defeat when they take on Schalke.

Geoff Cameron and Stoke City face a major test in Premier League action in Sunday’s clash with Manchester United, while Lynden Gooch’s Sunderland faces a significantly less dangerous opponent in West Brom. Elsewhere in England, DeAndre Yedlin looks to build on a midweek assist as Newcastle takes on Rotherham.

  1. Looking at my newspaper I see that Leipzig vs. Augsburg is on TV today (Friday). I was going to give it a pass and then this reminded me that Boyd is with Leipzig. It would be nice if he got on the pitch for a change.

      • He’s only just recently started to see time with the U23s. It’ll take a little time before he’ll be able to break into the gameday roster for the 1st team. Especially considering how well RB’s current squad is performing.

  2. Anyone know if ArJo’s suspension carries into this weeks matches?

Last weekend for players to make an impression before call-ups begin for the October friendlies. Looking forward to seeing who steps up and makes the cut.
