While no Americans were able to find the back of the net on Saturday, several were able to lead their team to victory with vital assists.

DeAndre Yedlin, Paul Arriola and Emerson Hyndman each provided an assist on Saturday, helping their respective teams notch victories in the process. Yedlin assisted on a pair of goals in Newcastle’s lopsided victory over Rotherham United, while Paul Arriola picked up his assist just one week after scoring for Tijuana.

Hyndman, meanwhile, notched a helper in his first Rangers appearance, helping setup the game-winner in Scottish Cup action.

  2. In addition to assists Yedlin’s lightning quick closing speed and tackle when the goalkeeper coughed up the ball at the edge of the box was also impressive.

  3. Pulisic had some nice moments including dribbling into 4 defenders in the box but unable to push the ball home. On the other end, he lost the ball in front of goal and was lucky that the ensuing shot hit the crossbar.
Overall, I thought he had a good game with some great attacking runs that troubled Bremen.

  4. Yedlin was the MOTM for Newcastle. Both of his assists were lightning quick runs down the right with excellent cutback crosses.

  5. At least our lads seem to be getting more minutes than earlier in the season. It was hard to tell from the replay which goals Yedlin was involved in. A very nice pass from Hyndman. Hope he can play his way into the starting XI.

    • Yedlin’s first assist was the first goal. Free kick tajen dee p by Shelvey and Yedlin sent over a first time centre to the scorer Murphy who turned and shot into the net. As an assist 9/10
The second assist was NUFC’s third goal when he raced down the right and just managed to cross the ball, before it went out, for Ayoze Perez to bundle the ball (probably with his shoulder) into the net. As an assist 10/10. The Toon Army love him 😉

    • 1st and 3rd goals, with the first being the excellent one time take out of the air, and the second assist showcasing his super speed.

  6. FJ is still not fully recovered from injury and AJ suffered a muscle pull late in the week but it wasn’t thought to be serious.
