John Brooks out for Hertha Berlin with muscle injury

Hertha Berlin will be missing one of its key players on Wednesday against Borussia Monchengladbach.

The club announced that Brooks did not make the final squad and will miss out due to a muscle injury. Brooks started and played the full 90 minutes last weekend in Hertha’s 3-1 defeat to Hoffenheim, so the injury could just be a minor knock.

Brooks, who missed the U.S. Men’s National Team’s World Cup qualifier against Panama due to a sinus issue, has made 19 Bundesliga appearances for Hertha Berlin this season.

Another American will also be unavailable as Fabian Johnson has a thigh injury and will sit out yet again for Gladbach.

Hertha Berlin currently sits sixth in the Bundesliga table but could leapfrog into fifth with a victory. Monchengladbach, meanwhile, enters Wednesday’s clash 11th in the Bundesliga, seven points behind Wednesday’s opposition.
