Admit it, you’re feeling a little down today.
After 16 straight days of great European Championship action, we are coping with the first off-day of the tournament. The first of two off days actually. I don’t know about you but I’m feeling a bit of withdrawal and no, watching a replace of USA-Barbados isn’t the cure.
So what can you do during these two soccer-less days? I’ve been dealing with laptop issues that have made things rough in SBI-land the past few days but there is still plenty to do for the bored soccer fan waiting for Germany-Turkey to kick off on Wednesday. Here are some suggestions:
- Fire up the Football/Championship Manager.
- Watch the TIVO replay of USA-Argentina.
- Catch up on all the news and gossip in the European transfer market.
- Figure out whether you can afford to pay to travel to that USA-Trinidad & Tobago away qualifier.
- Vote for the MLS All-Star game.
- Scan YouTube for videos of all the Euro 2008 stars who you didn’t know about before the tournament.
- Order some Procede and find out whether or not Giuseppe Franco is full of crap.
- Scan YouTube for videos of Eddie Johnson and Chad Barrett missed shot compilations (what, nobody has made these videos yet?).
- Order your Jozy Altidore Villarreal jersey.
- Go tanning then buy a white dress shirt so you can rock the Fatih Terim look.
- Get an early start on your Abel Xavier Halloween Costume.
This should be enough to get you through these days. Now it’s your turn. What have you been doing to combat Euro 2008 withdrawal? Share your suggestions below.
64 undefeated games with Newcastle United!
Talk about a cure!
it looks as though Fox Sports Espanol is showing the Copa Libertadores games.
They are showing replays tonight of LDU Quinto vs America tonight at 9 PM and Fluminese vs Boca Juniors at 11 PM. Then tomorrow they are showing LDU Quinto vs Fluminese live at 8:30 PM…all times are EDT
Ives,
do you know of any stations in New York or the U.S. that might be carrying the finals of the copa libertadores between liga and fluminense? anyone else know of any stations?
Lippi’s back, together with Totti and Nesta! Next world tournament will be our matter again! ;o)))
I am going to solicit Shaq to help me create a scathing rap about Eddie Johnson.
Find ways to annoy Kenny Cooper zealots, sadly it’s like shooting fish in a barrel.
Work on my Jose Mourinho impression.
@Mark – You are “making” the Home Depot Center in ProEvo? Is that something you can do with the pc version of the game? (I have the game on XBOX 360.)
I’ve started looking at sub-forums on bigsoccer! Which actually led me to find out that MLS has rejected a $1 million bid for Cooper…
Golf. Hey, it’s still a white ball. It’s frustrating sometimes, compelling most of the time….and I get a tan.
Cheers,
I was feeling the blues earlier today. But my son just kicked some butt in his soccer tryouts. I am on a soccer high. No withdrawal here!
study 🙁
My original plan was just to take a complete break from soccer, but eventually I used my uefa.com subscription to watch some old champions league matches. I’ll probably be doing that tomorrow, too.
I guess I have to go back to work now.

keep up with transfer news
and i second the motion put forth by dave @ soccer fanhouse.. where is this jozy jersey? i want the black though, with the yellow streaks.. i already have a bright ass yellow ronaldinho brazil jersey
good idea on youtube videos of arshavin (because i know that is who you were referencing ives)
something interesting for you to note:
if you noticed against the dutch, the russians absolutely love taking the ball all the way to the byline, either to the right or the left of goal, and cutting the ball back across the face of goal… i can’t even count how many times i saw them do it in that game
my point is, if u go to youtube and look up arshavin, the videos are loaded with this exact play
I feel that because I’ve made all this MLS stuff for Pro Evo myself, it has the personal touch that EA doesn’t give MLS in Fifa.
I made a world league on FIFA 2008 for ps2. Top 32 international teams. Keepin it old school, and yes Mark, HDC is already in this version and its LOVELY.
Go surfing.
I’m going to keep building up my Champions Road team in Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 for the Wii. Because it’s the only way anyone would ever see Ronaldinho play in the same starting XI as Brian McBride.
And where exactly can we get this mythical Jozy Altidore Villareal jersey?
Ives,
Can you add asking you about John O’Brien to that list?
Helping Jack Warner count his money. You’d be surprised the places it turns up.
hahaha. thanks ives, I now have my so-called futbol methadone. keep up the good work, man I check this site at least three times per day.
“Order some Procede and find out whether or not Giuseppe Franco is full of crap.”
This made my day, thanks Ives. =P
Pro Evo!
More specifically, making Home Depot Center for Pro Evo – a long and ardous process (3D modelling) but it’ll all be worth it at the end
Pack house for move so wife is less pissed off when I start watching the games again (instead of packing…)
Exercise your Davinci Code sleuthing skills and get to the bottom of the DP conspiracy, thus preempting the powers that be.
Getting some work done while I’m at work.
18 year old Single Malt Scotch & Setanta
Keep hitting the Soccer By Ives refresh button in the vain hope that Ives has some scoop that catches my interest.
I’m going to pretend I bought the red bulls and develop a revised business plan and team identity from the ground up…or i’ll just go out drinking.
Is that Giuseppe Franco reference a knock on the scores of people that mix him up with Giuseppe Rossi?
