Chivas USA has signed Brazilian attacking midfielder Dejair, adding him to newly-acquired midfielder Sasha Victorine on the same day the club placed Raphael Wicky, Lawson Vaughn and Eric Ebert on the season-ending injury list.

With Sacha Kljestan looking poised to play a bigger role with the U.S. national team in coming months, Chivas USA has bolstered its midfield with two player it feels can start. Dejair joins Chivas USA from Brazilian club ABC FC, which he led to the 2008 Rio Grande do Norte state championship. The 30-year-old playmaker is a product of the Botafogo youth system.

Wicky’s season is over after playing just five games with the club. He underwent reconstructive ankle surgery on July 16.

Vaugh played in just seven games and also fell victim to an ankle injury that will require surgery.

  1. Thats what I thought but this line in Ives report made me second guess my un-knowledge.

“Dejair joins Chivas USA from Brazilian club ABC FC”

He played 5 games for them this year and they voided the contract in order for him to come over. that my friends is what you call all stars aligned in the right position for Chivas/MLS to sign this guy.

  2. The international transfer window only applies to players who are under contract quartz. If he’s a free agent, which I assume he is, there isn’t an issue.

  3. Right on “quart”…it’s supposed to be closed for international signings.

He must have been a free agent…only way it could have worked.
