Beasley scores, Edu starts in Rangers friendly vs. Beckham’s Milan

It was only a friendly, but Wednesday's AC Milan-Glasgow Rangers exhibition saw several storylines collide as David Beckham played and DaMarcus Beasley scored off a Maurice Edu pass in a 2-2 draw at Ibrox in Glasgow.

More than 45,000 turned up to watch Beckham and current club AC Milan. After a soreless first half, Beasley opened the scoring in the second by running onto an Edu pass and scoring in the 65th minute. Kaka and Alexandre Pato scored for Milan before Sasa Papac provided the late equalizer for Rangers.

Although they didn't play on the field at the same time, it was interesting to have Beasley and Beckham in the same game when they could soon be LA Galaxy teammates (or Beasley could be trying to help LA make up for the loss of Beckham if he stays with Milan).

What do you think of this match? Do you see Beasley sticking it out in Scotland or is a return to MLS inevitable? Happy to see Maurice Edu get a start, even if it was just a friendly? Wondering what Milan's next bid for Beckham will be worth?

  1. Beasley coming back to the MLS would be a crime! He still has some game, that knee needs to heal up and get the confidence going again, he has done well for the Gers in the past. I can see him moving to Germany or France next season. Word on Edu is management is high on him, but he has been hampered by ankle and hamstring injuries preventing him from playing much. Hopefully he can get healthy and get some burn, I would like to see him develop into a CB, then move Boca to LB for the US. Boca, Edu, Gooch, Wynne. I like it.

  2. Just saw the goal and it was definitely NOT a good pass from Edu nor was it a through pass that Beasley ran onto. It was a ball in the general area where defender did not clear then a superb individual effort by Beas.

  3. JS – Thanks for the link. Now I know why people posting were scoffing at Edu’s assist. Beasley looked great on that goal. I’m also realizing how much that USA/Italy in the WC game has affected me. I pretty much hate everything Italian when it comes to football. Mexico #1, Italy #2…can’t wait for Confederations Cup.

BTW, sweet photo. Love the steam coming off Beas.. Can’t wait for him to put up a great game againt Mexico and shut everyone up about his demise. Stay in Europe Beas!!!
