Jeff Cunningham led the charge in FC Dallas' 6-3 drubbing of the Los Angeles Galaxy, and was honored with his 12th career MLS Player of the Week award for his efforts.

Cunningham scored two goals and added two assists as Dallas demolished a slow Galaxy back-line that had no answer for the speed in the FCD attack, with Cunningham causing the most problems.

The honor is Cunningham's 12th, most in MLS history.

Here are some other stories to get your day going:

Red Bulls unload Pacheco, terminate loan deal

The New York Red Bulls terminated its contract with El Salvador national team defender Alfredo Pacheco, ending its loan agreement with CD Fas and sending Pacheco back to El Salvador.

Pacheco struggled badly for most of his stay with the Red Bulls, never truly showing the defensive bite and attacking quality he had previously displayed for the El Salvador national team. In fact, he became this year's version of Gabriel Cichero, a defender incapable of avoiding bad mistakes and costing the Red Bulls results repeatedly.

Pacheco had requested that the Red Bulls terminate the loan as far back as a month ago and his wish was finally granted by a Red Bulls squad that had long since handed the left back position to converted midfielder Danleigh Borman, who has settled in at the position.

Adebayor facing conduct charges

Manchester City striker Emmanuel Adebayor has been hit with two charges by the English FA for his actions during City's 4-2 win vs. Arsenal on Saturday.

Adebayor has been charged for his actions following a goal scored late in the match where he ran the length of the field to celebrate in front of Arsenal fans, a move that led to a fan uprising and an assault on a steward. The other charge involves Adebayor's stomp to the face of Arsenal striker Robin Van Persie, a play that left Van Persie's face bloodied.

Adebayor is expected to be suspended, meaning he will miss the weekend's Manchester Derby as Manchester City faces Manchester United.

  3. Cunningham is turning in to one of a very few bright spots for FCD fans this season.

As far as Adebayor his celebratioon got the punishment it deserved. He was give a Yellow card for it. So not much there the league should do according to the rules. On the stomp not sure about that one it may need action by the league, but why they are looking at the celebration when the rules already handled that infraction I do not understand. If he had left the field maybe but other than that not sure there is anything else the League should do.

  5. IMO, i didnt think the stomp from adebayor was intentional. it all happened to quick to be on purpose.

as for the celebration, ridiculous but entertaining. he probably deserves a one game suspension for this

  7. Arsenal fans are a bunch of whining wankers… this double-ban for Ade is partially a plot by the FA to get him out for the United game – Classic.

  8. so retroactive punishments for goal celebrations, but not diving? I guess retroactive punishments only happen if someone gets injured.

  9. any news on the El Lay/FCD incident after the game? donovan assaulting an opponent with the slap and Goldenballs with a giant photo of him choaking an opponent. Anything gonna come out of that?

(SBI-MLS usually hands down disciplinary action on Thursdays.)

  10. I say the celebrating is just showmanship if he wants to play the bad guy let him do it. We often forget that these guys are just entertainers. Though I’d prolly be pissed if I were an Arsenal fan.

    Face-stomping that’s another story.

  11. Ives, have you heard anything about Sudan national team coach Stephen Constantine being considered for the head coaching position at Red Bull?

(SBI-I wouldn’t believe every random name linked to the job. Everybody and anybody who wants an MLS job is going to throw his name into the ring, but that definitely does not mean they are being legitimately considered.)

  12. sometimes i wonder if RBNY gives up on players to soon. In europe they say it usually takes until the second year for a new player to acclimate.

(SBI-Pacheco wanted out and in his case it was a loan deal so it’s not as if the team was going to buy him after the season he had. That has been the case with many of the guys RB has unloaded lately. Gabriel Cichero and Diego Jimenez were both here on loans and considering how they had played it wasn’t worth the Red Bulls buying either of them for the big numbers they would have cost.)

  13. As continually growing Red Bulls fan I am excited by the continued split from the Osorio era and his less than stellar buys. I am excited for the new stadium and some fresh blood. This year was a waste of all the momentum they got from the MLS Cup final. They completely botched the Champions League, Open Cup , and MLS. A complete do over is in order and I am glad they have set about doing it.

My only hope is that they do give Richie Williams the coaching job. The team is night and day playing for then when they played for Osorio. Even in the lose to KC this weekend they showed a lot of heart, possed the ball for most of the game, and were very close to equalizing all night. They just look better.

  14. AC, the last time Cunningham had a shot with the Nats, he just dribbled out of bounds. He didn’t even seem to try to pass to a teammate. Maybe that memory lingers? That’s my best guess.

  15. Adebayor shoudl be penalized, no doubt, for both issues. Does anyone else think that Van Persie went in with two feet and spikes up? This doesn’t justify what Adebayor did in any way, but I haven’t heard anyone comment on this.

  16. I know that what Adebayor did was wrong, but can English fans show any self-control? When rugby players score a try and celebrate the fans don’t try to kill the stewards! What is wrong with English football fans?

  17. Ives,

Here’s a weird thought. I know Cunningham is up there in years, but why shouldn’t he get a shot again at the national team with the way he is playing? I don’t mean starting minutes, but he could be a good source of depth in the forward pool, one that isn’t too deep in natural speedy forwards outside of Davies since Donovan plays as an attacking midfielder/winger and everywhere else. Just a weird, outside thought.

(SBI-Cunningham isn’t the most reliable finisher, isn’t know for having much of a willingness to track back, and LA game aside, has never really been known as much of a passer. He’s been on fire lately, but I doubt he gets brought in at this point in the cycle.)

  18. Adebayor’s face stomp on Van Persie deserves harsh discipline.

However, that was the best goal celebration I have ever seen. I can’t remember the last time I laughed so hard. HAHAHAHA!!!!

Cunningham – Locker room vs Field. Will be interesting to see if he has Lassiter Legacy Syndrome

Red Bulls – “Looked Good in the Window”…wow, they have really been burned. How many times can it happen and whose to blame?
