  1. I just watched the 2nd Honduras goal again and it looked like two players received the ball in offsides positions. And what was Howard doing?

  2. I was begging Bradley to put in Jozy up top, right up until Casey scored two goals. The build up and final pass on Casey’s second were world class. Brazil or Spain would’ve been proud of that goal.

I do have to say that Casey’s stutter step froze the keeper nicely and made the final touch pretty simple. It was a very composed finish.

The second half was so incredibly entertaining, it’s been a while since I’ve seen a US game with so much fluid attacking.

  3. Andrew in tamp – In the game against Spain the US team did come out aggressive, and offensive. That is my point when the US plays that way they can be a dangerous team, but a lot of the time they don’t do that. They play preventive defense instead.

  4. Frankly, I was fine with the (non)call. I just wanted to point out where the argument for the offside violation was — there seemed to be confusion of what the issue was. As Joamiq pointed out, the start of the play — where Julio Cesar de Leon passes the ball — was fine, so why was anyone arguing offside? It wasn’t until later in the play that we see that #11 was standing in an offside position, so a judgment on his contribution to the play should be evaluated. Personally, I don’t think #11 gained an advantage, and I do not see any evidence that Tim Howard was distracted by his presence. But, hey, I can see the argument here.

  5. CONOR CASEY! Way to prove the critics wrong. Impressive, almost as impressive as Donovan’s free kick. DAMN! Best free kick I’ve ever seen him taken. Dude’s Sex Is On Fire.
