Thirteen is the magic number for the Akron Zips. There's no stopping the country's No. 1 team these days, and the Zips continues to roll through the opposition with a 1-0 win against North Illinois over the weekend. Akron outshot Northern Illinois 17-3 but could only muster a game-winner in the 70th minute. It was Akron's 11th clean sheet of the season, and get this statistic: Akron has outscored opponents 36-2 and has outshot them 217-54.
It must be noted that their dominance is in a weaker conference, though they knocked off Virginia Tech last week. Speaking of the ACC, the conference still has three teams in the NSCAA top 10, with Maryland, North Carolina and Wake Forest holding serve. The Terrapins won their fourth in a row on the road, defeating Clemson 1-0. Wake Forest routed NC State 4-1, while the No. 2 Tar Heels were unable to match their counterparts, losing 2-1 against BC in Chapel Hill.
Two teams out west, UCLA and UCSB looked to take advantage of UNC's loss, but only one came away successful. The Bruins had back-to-back shutouts Friday and Sunday, first defeating California 1-0, then following up with a 2-0 win against Stanford. UCSB on the other hand, lost a tight 1-0 decision to Cal State Northridge on Sunday.
The free fall of UMBC continued over the weekend, losing their second in a row and third out of fourth, losing to Longwood 3-2 at home. The nation's leading scorer, Andrew Bulls, tallied his 15th goal of the season, but it wasn't enough for a Terriers win.
What other college match-ups were this weekend? Make it out to any games? Can anyone stop Akron?

Actually they’re the 8th ranked team in the country. Thanks for posting nothing.
is that a high school team?
Why no love for the Monmouth Hawks?
#6 Harvard beat #15 Brown 1-0
IU lost to michigan st. IU was the better team, but couldnt convert its chances, and then Mich st in OT made a nice play, and had a nice shot from the left, good save by Soffner of IU, but it went right to a MSU player, who put it away easily.
1-0 was the final score, even though IU had like 18 shots.
USF Bulls beat FAU 3-2 last Wed. then Syracuse 3-0 on Sat.
They were away games but we have 3 home games coming up to help close out the season.
The Big East is slowly becoming harder and harder this season.
Suprised not to see no fulham hull commentary especially being on espn 2
(SBI-We put one up at halftime since folks were asking for one.)
Goal Fulham….Zamora knocks a longball down to Duff who volleys it at the Myhill, he saves it and Zamora nods back in the rebound. 1-0 Whites.
Akron will be stopped in the NCAA tourney. Once UIC gets back into gear…i don’t call finally scoring 29 sec before time back in gear, but we’ll take it. We can beat Akron when it comes to crunch time.
Heck instead of just that 1 goal we should have scored at least 2 against them.
good to see dempsey healthy, but what does altidore have to do to earn a start. Bradley should have just sent a tape of the costa rica match to hughes as a little hint…
also Eddie Johnson not dressed
off the subject but dempsey starting and altidore on the bench for todays fulham-hull city match.
Retrievers, not terriers. Also, sadness.
