Soccer Sunday: Your Running Commentary

TerryEduardo (ISIphotos.com)

A day after Manchester United posted another victory, both Chelsea and Arsenal will head into their London Derby needing a victory to keep pace with the red-hot Red Devils.

Arsenal will be looking to rebound from its loss to Manchester United last week, which won't come easy at Stamford Bridge against a Chelsea team that will be eager to recover after a mid-week stumble against Hull.

Had your fill of EPL soccer after Saturday's loaded schedule? There's plenty of other quality fixtures, including Fiorentina-Roma as well as Sao Paolo-Santos match that should be entertaining.

If you will be watching today's action, please feel free to share your thoughts, opinions and some play-by-play in the comments section below.

  3. Has there been any new cba news? Find it interesting especially with the NBA and NFL having cba issues now as well, this cold be a crazy next couple of years for pro sports in this country. As MLS is growing and trying to offer larger contracts the other leagues are trying to scale back.

  5. Carlo Ancelotti is a tactical mastermind. He knew that Arsenal would have the majority of the possession and decided to use a 4-3-3 for quick transition rather than a 4-3-1-2, which would have been useless since that’s more of a possession keeping/tempo controlling lineup when they wouldn’t have the majority, at least not in most cases. Combined with Chelsea’s quick passing, the counterattack repeatedly caught Arsenal on the backfoot. Arsenal’s issue is that they worked the ball so slowly that Chelsea had all the time in the world to get their numbers back. Arshavin is not a target man and while he has excellent finishing, he can’t be played there. I think this sort of thing works for Arsenal:

  8. (tumbleweeds).

Is Arsenal, a team that routinely finishes top 4 but rarely wins the league anymore, actually that appealing to watch?

  9. lol, not one comment in almost 3 hours? wow. I could have been “first” one billion times.

I guess the Superbowl will always be king.

Well Drogba owns Arsenal. 12 goals in 12 games against the gunners is what I think I heard. Pretty impressive. How old is that guy? 30 something???

  10. unbelieveable that for the second straight week arsenal gets a counter attack goal scored on them… They need a patrick veiria back in the squad. Alex Song is bad..

  11. interested in the fiorentina game. fiorentina just swooped in for Adem Ljajic, a young serb who was thought to have signed with Man U in 2009 along with Zoran Tosic, but the deal fell through and now he’s latched on with Fiorentina.

Only 18, a good run of games in a higher profile league (he’s a product of Partizan) could see him force his way into the Serbian squad for the World Cup, which is shaping up to look awfully dangerous.

  12. Arsenal v. Chelsea, yes please. Anyone else feel like the gunners have no shot against the other big boys? Watch me propagandize futbol at my Superbowl party today.

  13. So what is this quasi-HD that FSC has used the past couple of weeks? It is better than the normal feed, but it isn’t quite HD (which I will assume will be available when the FSC HD channel is actually available?)

  14. 0-0 Milan v. Bologna. Milan had a some chances and controlled the game but couldn’t put one in the bag of the old onion bag; hit the cross bar twice

  16. Eddie Johnson played 90 minutes in Aris’ 2-0 loss.

Empty stadium, monsoon conditions, bad pitch, and two bonehead errors by the defense lead to a loss to a team who had only won once all season.

No Adu today, hopefully he plays on Wednesday in the Greek Cup against the same team they played last week.
