“There’s just a latent anxiety around the Nou Camp now. Barca not creating much and Arsenal having lots of possession. A goal now for the visitors would make this very interesting.”

Our friends at Infostrada Sports have unearthed a few more bits of info about this Lionel Messi character. He’s just scored the sixth hat-trick of his career. At 21 minutes, it was the fourth fastest Champions League hat-trick (behind Mike Newell, Joseba Llorente and Marco Simone) ever. He’s the youngest Champions League hat-trick scorer since Wayne Rooney in 2004-05. And his 38 goals match his tally from last season. Barcelona’s top goalscorer in a season was Ronaldo with 47 in 1996-97.

  6. which is exactly what he wants you to think, he is Lionel Messi and you are Getafe stuck on April 23, 2007 wondering what is happening in continuous bewilderment.

  7. Brazil’s Ronaldo was on another planet for 2-3 years, but a serious knee injury pretty much wrecked his career (save for a couple of great moments). Messi is the best in the world right now, but let’s see what happens over the next few years. I hope he’s allowed to light up the game for years to come.

  8. Messi is a player unseen like any other. Writers and scribes around the world have abandoned trying to describe him. Messi has forced them to write in sole purpose of topping each other.

It’s not too early to talk about Lionel Messi being one of the greatest footballers of all time, of course it’s not. What’s the point in being a football fan if you can’t have such discussions? The memories this young man is leaving us with this season alone are simply unforgettable. He’s scored 38 goals already, and some of them are beautiful beyond belief.

  11. not quite see Messi does not even need to score, he simply creates a universe where he already has scored more than they do

  12. Messi is apparently not bound by the same rules of time, space, gravitional pull, etc., that enslave the rest of us. He exists somewhere in a land of pure imagination…

  13. whats the point in beating a team missing their starting stricker, leading scorer, 2 center backs, and an outside mid? if they pull messi thats all arsenal would accomplish if they won, thats not a win thats a roll over and die on the other teams part. losing fabregas and song doesnt add up to that

  15. i hope pep takes off messi at halftime, because thats the only way arsenal have any shot at advancing. i think they can score 2, but i dont think they can not concede.

  16. Denilson is absolutely terrible. HEH jacka$$…you’re a defensive mid…please keep track of the World’s best player. Denilson sleep walking on all 3 goals. As I said in an earlier post, losing Song was a much bigger loss than people realized. Denilson needs to be sold.
