Manchester United will face the MLS All-Stars in this summer's MLS All-Star Game at Reliant Stadium in Houston on July 28th, the league announced on Thursday.
The match will be part of a four-match tour of North America for Manchester United, which will also play exhibition matches in Toronto, Philadelphia and Kansas City.
What do you think of Manchester United as the MLS All-Star Game opponent? Hoping Wayne Rooney is in the lineup? Think the match will be a sellout?

Love em or hate em, ManU are a championship team and to have them playing “locally” will be oustanding. It’s a shame that more teams can’t be convinced to help the MLS is in raising their level of play and knowledge. These game are huge for the young players, coaches and league.
HA. Yeah right.Guys like fletcher, giggs, berbatov, van der sar aren’t playing in the WC and they’re all starter talent. they’ll pick the all stars apart 3-0
me
Um, the Galaxy play there ?
The have this great player called Landon Donovan.
Inspite of that I guarentee there are tickets available. Not to this Saturdays game, which is in Seattle, but when they get back to LA.
I will be in the minority here. Maybe a group of one. But I would rather see East versus West.
Relying on a big team name to draw fans, when you have a great product to offer like MLS does, just diminishes your great product.
We need to take MLS, support it and be happy we have it. It is not like it isn’t improving very quickly.
Instead most seem to be constantly waiting until we can see better.
3rd tier ?
How many leagues you got in each tier ?
WOW
I hope the folks here in Korea don’t catch wind about this (they probably won’t mind you). I really don’t want to have to hear about how Park single handedly crushed all of America’s top league or whatever.
At least Donovan had a sweet game against them earlier this year…
LA played AC Milan last year. Let other teams grow their fanbase, or does the Galaxy want to pay for everyone’s bill? Uh, you do know some of these other teams are only getting 8k fans per game?
the miss of the century will become classic!
c’mon, its the old trick the Mexicans would do to the Yanks with their “we only play at Azteca rule”, fully aware that the polution and altitude were to the Mexican’s advantage. Rooney will be dead by the 35th minute from the humidity. A definate win for MLS all-stars.
Hey guys…

They arent playing Toronto, they are playing Celtic in Toronto.
We dont know who is going to be the “better MLS teams” come the end of July. In this league, there is too much parity. LA and NY might be at the top of their divisions now but could very well be mid to low table by then.
This is good for soccer in the US. Should be a great turnout for that game.

I think it’s fantastic for the Kansas City community.
They have a solid soccer community (I played some club in Raytown as a boy), and there’s no better way to foster more interest in the sport, going forward with their stadium.
This year, next year and hopefully many years to come.
That’s my thought. On the KC board, my prediction was 50k. I dropped by the Wizards FO today and they were buzzing.
It’s a friendly. It’s an exhibition. It isnt about winning or losing. Not to mention, it is preseason for United. They arent going to be balls to the wall.
The Kansas City that just outplayed LA two weeks ago?
Yes, it will be at Arrowhead. This is going to be the first event at the full remodeled Arrowhead. The KC taxpayers just paid 400 million to renovate it. It should be top notch.
I doubt they would play Man U in their stadium anyway. Why limit a friendly like that to 18K when it could bring in 40K?
Also, OnGoal has made it clear they plan to bring in friendlies like this on a yearly basis. So, why not this year and next year.
I think the KC location is a solid marketing strategy by the teams. The midwest is always overlooked compared to SO CAL or the East Coast. This game should be a sell out. Looking at the KCW site it looks like they aren’t going to only make about 50,000 of the 80,000 available unless the ticket really becomes a high demand. This game should draw from all over with St. Louis, OKC, Des Moines, Omaha and other surrounding areas within a 4 hour drive or less.
Maybe because Kansas City has one of the best ownership group in the entire league and worked a deal to make it happen. Do you think Manchester United cares about the locations of the game? Hell no. All they care about is the cash.
What the hell is wrong with Kansas City anyway? It is continually ranked as one of the nicest places to live in the entire country.
This Game is Already LOst Why Would the MLS do This To Them Selves? BAd Move
I did hear the Boston-area has a chance to get the Old Firm derby, sometime this summer.
While it may not be United, going watch a: Celtic/Rangers game would be pretty high on the list of most footy-fans.
Even if it is a glorified friendly.
Hernandez left Chivas weeks ago to train with the National Team.
I don’t imagine he’ll be with United, since he’ll likely be in/leaving South Africa.
Everytime someone posts this kind of hyperbole, I always get the impression they’re openly trying to validate their being an actual supporter and not just some bandwagoner/front-running fan.
Please refrain from pushing the fake-hysteria button, we get it….you’re a ” TRUE MAN UNITED ” supporter.
SoccerLee’s usage was completely harmless and in no way meant to be disrespectful. Quite frankly, you bringing it up knowing this just makes you look feeble & disrespectful to the very ” cause ” you’re attempting to be valiant for..
Reason #185 of why I can’t stand United and their supposed fan base.
Haha I can see it now: Yank goes Manc
GK: Foster
Def: Rafael, Brown, De Laet, O’Shea
Mids: Donovan, Hargreaves, Anderson, Valencia
FWD: Macheda, Chicharito Hernadez
I haven’t read where they’ll play the friendly, but I have to imagine it’ll be in Arrowhead (home of the Chiefs).
Great facility, recently remodeled and fantastic parking.
That’d be my guess on the venue, because we certainly know IT WONT BE at the C.A.B.
Berbatov. That was too easy.
And yet the starters lost to lowly Burnley hahaha!
Don’t forget the big summer transfer I’m hearing about…
Wait for it…
Landon Donovan!
One thing in common for these games is they’re all played on grass. Prolly one reason for KC getting the game. Hopefully, the push continues for more grass pitches.
yes it is serious, if you have any respect for the dead of Man United then you would know.
Yes but…Giggs, O’Shea, Hargreaves, Scholes, Fletcher, Owen, ect. Lots of star power there. I’d love to see any of those guys.
Agreed William. I hope Michael Owen does come. I’d love to see him play live. He’s not that great anymore, but he’s still Michael Owen.
I got my pre-order code today from The Union…10am tomorrow I’ll be set w/ tix to see them in Philly. I’m pumped.
i looked it up a while ago and have been calling them man u for ever. its not that serious.
If you “LOVE Man U” stop calling them “Man U”
Man United if you want to shorten the full name. Man U is disrespectful to the team and to those that died in Munich. Look it up and I promise you will never call them that again.
ok then loser
