Nike’s new World Cup commercial

Leave it to the folks at Nike to put together a perfect commercial to get fans ready for the World Cup (complete with a cameo from Tim Howard and Landon Donovan).

Enjoy:

Even more excited for the World Cup? It's just three weeks away.

  1. I wish this commercial would have a permanent space on the SBI frontpage. The youtube direct link already has several hand-egg supporters criticizing real football. It just takes away from the hilarious greatness of the moment.

  2. Sorry Aaron. This one’s fun, but Take it to the Next Level is of much higher quality both in concept, production, and execution.

  3. Nike’s not voicing any opinion about dinho’s soccer ability, but about ability to sell shoes. Ronaldinho’s still the most recognized and marketable Brazillian player by a large margin.

  4. Haha, poor ‘dinho. Did anyone tell Nike that the US is playing in the world cup too? Why not a segment where Dempsey elastico’s someone out of their shorts and rips a shot to the upper 90?

  5. That was incredible. Nike has to be disappointed that Ronaldinho’s 2010 WC experience will only consist of shooting this commercial. Now I wonder if Cristiano is going to choke again. Question is where’s Messi? Argentina’s kit is made by another brand and that must explain it.

  6. KOBE!!

ahhh. I would’ve loved to see Ronaldinho do that to someone at the WC. That was the best meg I’ve seen.

  7. what wouldve been great was, as a quick fix, Nike graffed Robinho’s head on to Ronaldinho’s body. he can play on the wing and has fancy feet too!

  8. Yea you’re probably right, but he WAS left out of the Confederations Cup, so they COULD have seen it coming. But I guess that’s a lot to ask of Nike. They probably just said screw it and didn’t cut him out because of the time they spent. Would be nice though!

  9. im sure the production of this commercial was started way before Brazil’s 30 was ever selected. things like this take tons of hours and man-power to make.

  10. Just got to thinking: Is this Nike’s way of voicing their opinion on whether or not Dinho should’ve been in the 23? If so, is it just because they sponsor him, or because they feel that Dunga has done a disservice to football fans all over the world?

I’d like to find out if there’s more to Ronaldinho being in this commercial than just Nike being foolish….

  13. That was pretty darn funny right there. Great commercial, except for the whole part where Ronaldinho has not played a significant role for Brazil in some time.

  14. Shame the ball won’t be a Nike. As for Ronaldinho, he probably won’t be wearing the 10 shirt, but I have a sneaking suspicion that a late injury will result in a call up. Don’t see why Dunga would have put him on the 30 man roster otherwise, even if he claims the 23 is set.
