Spain, one of the favorites to win the World Cup, is in action for the final time before its tournament opener against Switzerland as it hosts Poland in an international friendly (4 p.m., ESPN2/ESPN3.com).
Despite the recent rash of injuries to international stars, Spain is fielding a lineup that includes the likes of Xavi, Iniesta, David Silva and David Villa.

always we be too soon
No, they had a worse defeat in 1939.
I kid because I love.
*would..
Apparently Denmark beat them 8-0 in 1948. Not the worst beatdown of Poland by northern Europeans that decade. Too soon?
I still wouldn’t be petrified if he got on the field in SA (outside of a meaningless third group game). His tendency for howlers is almost as bad as the English.
6-0; damn, this must be the worst defeat in poland’s history.
Not a bad team, that Spain.
Yayyy Torres, I like that guy
and he DOESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
I pray that Torres scores.
Spain will win the WC. They have the talent, the heart, the mentality and they play as a TEAM.
each of the starting XI is world class but there is no standout. they play for the man to the left/right.
Torres looks pretty cool with that haircut. shame he didn’t go with the mohawk look he had in 06
How does his hair look?
I mean, how is he doing?
I can’t see Cesc starting for Xavi or Iniesta. He needs to find a different position to start.
Thanks guys. Am I correct in thinking that most teams are already in South Africa? I got confused when I heard some horns ha
Estadio Nueva Condomina (Murcia, Spain)

Cesc takes 1 minute to make it 4-0.
Joining late. Where is this being played?
Probably b/c he doesn’t play for Real Madrid, Barcelona, or Valencia. Just joking around b/c I noticed that they started 10 guys for this game from those 3 spanish clubs. The only exception was Capdevilla. They should have started Ramos instead then the entire starting 11 would be from the 3 top clubs in spain this year.
3-0 and Spain are rolling again
And Marca with more info saying it was just a precaution, that he should be ok.
Informa Silvia Barba por TVE que “Iniesta sufre molestias en la parte posterior del muslo derecho”. Esperemos que no sea nada…
He hurt his right buttcheek.
Spoke too soon.
Anyone watching know if Iniesta inury looks bad?
ESPN2 does have a nightly highlight show, I believe it’s called World Cup Primetime. 2-hour show, but it’s on at different times each night. Looks like it’s on at 8:30 Eastern Friday, then 1:00 a.m. Eastern Saturday night. They probably work it around the existing programming.
According to my channel guide, there is a WorldCup Primetime show on ESPN2. But it starts and ends at different times every weekday. It is usually a 2 hour show.
Spain lost interest in showing off once they had the 2-0 lead. Now they just want to not get hurt.
LOL yes! I’ve always thought Iniesta looked like a vampire.
Ives,
Can you do a side by side of how much the starting line-up for England gets paid weekly vs the US line-up…
Just saw on the bottomline that Inter Milan hired Rafa Benitez.
Other than their hairlines I don’t see it. I think Iniesta could be Count Chocula’s brother though.
Anybody else think Iniesta and LD could be brothers?

Don’t know if this helps. Most of the games are on ESPN or ESPN2. If they’re not on ESPN then I think they’re on ABC.
My apologies. I’m at work.
Spencer: He is still not the automatic first choice starter. Or at least was not through qualifying or last summer
Ted: Shep Messing
All: What beautiful football! Spain looks like Argentina did four years ago on thier good days.
Shep Messing? He’s a former US goalie.
dude he did…he’s even on the bench as we speak
He shows up on the roster as a sub for this game…looking at gamecast
Who’s this american announcer guy?
Iniesta is incredible. He sees things that even his teammates don’t.
is it just me or was the first goal an own goal. I looked at it about 10 times and there is no way villa got a touch on that.
Tony, Fabergas is still recovering they are letting him rest for a bit.
Maybe, someone can answer a question. How come Victor Valdes did not even get a call-up for Spain?
OHHHH god… so glorious…
Spain is rolling…2-0 in first 15 minutes
How good is Spain? Fabergas doesn’t start for them…
Fox Soccer Channel is also running a recap and preview show daily.
Well, for anyone who is curious, this looks the answer to #2: http://tvlistings.zap2it.com/tv/world-cup-primetime/EP01259096
“Watching” via Marca, Spain seems to have fielded thei strongest squad (minus guys they need to rest).
Two entirely unrelated questions: 1) Does anyone know where a I can find a printable TV schedule for the World Cup and 2) Is ESPN airing a nightly highlights show? If so, when is it on?
poland 1-0
