  1. Umm…My favorite single thing has been the new stadium packed with fans and international soccer stars. Also, the time Condoul and Ream got in a shouting match (in May, against Philadelphia) because Condoul couldn’t kick the goal kicks past half-field.

  2. Even though last year was painful, I still had a lot of fun at all the games. This year has been amazing! The new players have meshed well with the old guard, and it’s great to see the team competing in every single game. My favorite part of the season has to be the new/potential rivalries starting to form. Now people actually care about LA/NY, and the Union games are pretty intense as a fan. Nothing is better than great soccer rivalries, and I’m excited to have that for years to come in NY.

Watching us go up against the defending champs would be a great way to cap it off!

  3. My favorite aspect of the New York Red Bulls’ 2010 season are the investments the club has made in infrastructure, staff and players.

The soccer temple that is Red Bull Arena filled by faithful fans provides a fantastic soccer atmosphere that is improving game by game.

The front office continues to look for players that can make a difference and most player personnel decisions have been strong starting with the draft selections, but including DPs, Henry and Marquez, as well as savy veterans, such as Carl Robinson and Carey Talley, to provide solid minutes when needed.

Brian Nielsen seems a little fragile but every other player acquired has been solid.

The players are improving how they play together. Strong young guns – Tony Tchani and Tim Ream – improve game by game and couple well with the international stars on the team. It’s always fun to watch Thierry Henry, Rafael Marquez and Juan Pablo Angel play in their own right but it is also enjoyable to see how the rest of the starting 11 are combining with them. Joel Lindpere has been a quiet but effective workhorse all season and Mehdi Ballouchy is a late season acquisition that is showing promise. Bouna has come up big for the Red Bulls like he showed last week! It’s a strong starting 11 which is one of my favorite aspects of this season!

    Let’s go Red Bulls!!!

  4. My favorite part of this season was at the very beginning. I was able to make the short drive to see the first MLS game at Red Bull Arena. I loved walking into that stadium to see the home this team deserved. It was great to not only see them get their first win, but see a huge crowd turn out and see the team get support in their new stadium. It has been a extremely memorable season, and it all started with this game.

  5. Hi… I’m from Romania…but I came here…to live the american dream. And this dream is even bigger cause my favourite soccer player is playing here for the Red Bulls ! So I think this is my favourite part of the season…the signing of 2 great players Rafael Marques and my favourite Thierry Henry.I think because of these signings the soccer in this part of the world will be getting bigger and I hope it will be like in Romania…like in Europe …like in the rest of the world…the King of Sports.

Henry will bring people to the stadium cause what he does on a soccer field is pure art… ! I want to see my hero…and my new favourite team live…on a very beautiful stadium like the Red Bull Arena, so now I will go to sleep hoping that I will wake up tomorrow and my dream will come true !

  6. my favorite part of the season has been the fact that my sports fan friends (not just the soccer ones) are interested finally! it has been bringing fans to RBA that have never seen a live soccer game.

  7. my favorite aspect of the 2010 season for Metro/Red Bulls is the stability of the new ownership that we have been promised for too long. A GM who knows soccer, a competent head coach (and assistant), the long awaited soccer specific arena, and the apparent direction the club is going in. 3 dps, world class stars lighting up our state of the art facility, plus some of the best young players in the country coming out of MLS’s best academy system. VIVA JUAN PABLO

  8. My favorite aspect of this season has been the confidence of both the team and the fans. Last season was hell, every match you came in wondering if we were good enough to get a draw. Nowadays, we see the team playing great, confident soccer, relying on possession, and a manager that actually knows what he’s doing. Such confidence has rubbed onto the fanbase, who now go into every match knowing the full 3 points are possible. MLS Cup isn’t just a dream anymore, it’s realistic.

One match that I will never forget would be when we played Houston back in June, coming off of a few bad results. It was tied 1-1 in stoppage time and Houston had just conceded a foul right outside the box. Everything just seemed to be perfect. There was a huge air of confidence in everyone who had stayed that JPA would knock that free kick home. And he did. The crowd went berserk. I was choking on the smoke in 101 trying to belt out the words to “There’s only Juan Pablo Angel”. I had never felt that much emotion in my life, and you could tell everyone else hadn’t experienced it in a while. The mosh pit outside the stadium was as crazy as it had ever been. That had to be the turning point in the season. Everyone’s confidence in the team and the team’s confidence in themselves has led to one hell of a season.

  9. The favorite aspect of the NY Red Bulls this year has been above all Red Bull Arena. It is the best soccer specific stadium in the nation in one of the biggest cities in the world. It sends a statement that MLS is here to stay. It is also a place to showcase some of the best players in MLS. To me players come and go and althought Tim Ream has been great for the MLS, RBA is here to stay for all MLS fans and most importantly a great place to cheer for Red Bulls, definetly worth the wait.

  10. I’ve been following this team for 8 seasons and this has been by far the most enjoyable. We have the best soccer-specific stadium in the country. We have a class A coach who instills discipline, faith, and confidence in his payer. We’re consistently getting results at home and on the road. We have worldclass players. But what has been most gratifying is the emergence of Ream and Lindpere. No one really knew what these guys could bring to the field, but they’ve been a delight to watch and they’ve really been the difference makers. We finally have team capable of competing for the championship. Its so exciting!!

  11. My favorite aspect is not only the change in the player’s belief in themselves, how every game we have a legit chance to win but also how that confidence has transfered to me a a fan. Too many times last season I’d turn off the game at halftime. Absolutely disgusted. This year I’ll never leave a game early – we always have a chance to win. That and taking my 3 year old son to his first game. A tradition I hope grows.

  12. My favorite part of the season has been the fact that the Red Bulls are relevant for the first time in their history. I remember sitting through most of the games in the 1999 season (with Petke’s header in the home opener against Columbus being just about the only highlight) and thinking we’d never get to this point. After years of Alex Comas’, Sasa Curcic’s, Guido’s, and the like- we finally have three legitimate marquee players. The tipping point for me was, although it was a terrible time for TV, that the LA- Red Bulls game at 11 pm est was a must see match.

  13. Reading Ives already make excuses for the NYRB because they will be missing Richards and Condouil (then claim they have no excuse for losing) 😉 and not mention that it is RSL that is coming off a 14-game, 56-day gauntlet of MLS and CONCACAF games where RSL traveled nearly 22,000 miles across the continent, then only had 4 days home this week after having to travel back from Toronto before having to go back again across the U.S. to play.

I assure you win or lose, RSL will be in better shape and more rested if they play the NYRB again this season.

  14. The fact that red bull froze the season ticket prices from the last season in the swamp so people can see what is now a top quality team for an affordable price.

  15. Other than nearly running over Greg Sutton the other night (knowing full well that he would be in the starting line-up on Saturday)? It had to be sitting behind the goal for RBNY-Sp*rs in an Arsenal jersey and watching Henry score his first goal!

  17. My favorite part of the season has been the arrival to the stadium. There is the air of anticipation for the upcoming game, meeting new fans on the train and telling them about the team’s history, and then finally the game.

  18. The best part about this season is that the Red Bulls/Metro seem to be finally digging themselves out of the grave that the franchise has dug themselves into since MLS started play.
It looks like Red Bulls are setting themselves up for long-term success with the long-term signings of Henry and Marquez, a good core of young players like Ream and Tchani, and a great youth academy.
It’s not embarrassing anymore to support a team named after an energy drink. Not when they build the team a world-class stadium, have the financial muscle to get great players, a strong youth academy, and when they assemble a strong team.
To summarize.. this season has told the whole league that the Red Bulls will be a force for a long time!

  19. My favorite aspect of the season is epitomized in the dissatisfied post-match comments from Hans Backe and Team Ream after their relatively unconvincing win versus the Wizards. They are winning, but it is not enough. There are standards and ambitions now. What a change!

For me it is impossible to weigh the great things happening, the kid Ream, Backe, emergence of Dane, 2 new DPS new stadium etc. So my favorite aspect of the season has been the buzz and excitment surrounding the team. New Yorkers are suddenly aware. I can actually get friends to go to the games with me.

  22. The excitement of the NYRBs is the best aspect of the season. They’ve successfully galvanized a lot of interest and support. I absolutely love watching the DPs and young stars dominate the field.

  23. My favorite aspect of the season has to be the emergence of Tim Ream as a force to be reckoned with. He’s played every minute of every game and is having what has to be a rookie of the year season. Plus it gives me hopes for the USMNT after the current crop of defenders are done playing.

  24. I love that NYRB are playing with belief now. If they go a goal down or it’s tied and nearing the end of the 90, they still fight, and often nick the goal they need.
