Stuart Holden and Bolton have a chance to move past Chelsea in the English Premier league standings with a win against the struggling blues today at Stamford Bridge (2:30pm, Fox Soccer Channel)
Chelsea is coming off a lethargic loss to Arsenal on Monday, while Bolton is fresh off a 2-0 win against West Bromwich Albion. Chelsea needs at least a draw to hold on to fifth place in the Premier League, but will be seeking a win to move ahead of Tottenham into fourth place.

how much adderall did MadKingGeorge take?
You need a xanax, relax and let people be proud of their country/heritage. Sure there are idiots in every country, but why let the few ruin it for the masses? I for one enjoy the USA/Mexico rivlry. It makes for a extra exciting matchup with great sub plots.
I assume its a tired dig but not being a regular I wouldnt know. but..
Didnt anyone at Bolton recognize during the meeting with the designers that their proposal for a logo looks like a sperm cell?
Bolton got robbed.
Chelsea’s goal was off-sides.
Bolton should have been awarded a penalty when Holden’s shot hit Terry’s arm. It wasn’t a deliberate handball, but his arm was away from his body and the shot was goal-bound.
The rumors of Chelsea’s revival are premature; they still look both toothless up front and weak at the back.
Not HD on Verizon FioS either. 🙁
If they were happy , as i said, then I am happy for them. It was a great moment for that team. The ending of the game sure was thrilling to watch. Even inspiring. I question why was it great to be an American. Because Landon scored does that give all Americans an extra 50 years of life? Does that make all Americans able to live again in the future?
Since America won, does that make Americans superiority to all other peoples? That is what is wrong with the Olympics and the World Cup- too nationalistic. It brings about superiority and inferiority complexes on national scales. It just raises more barriers to having peace.
If you don’t think so , during the last world cup qualifying round , the match Between Algeria and Egypt in Cairo, 6 Algerians were killed in Cairo and hundreds of Egyptians workings in Algeria had to leave the country due riots against them. If the match was between club teams I dont those incidents were ever to happen.
Even the Mexican and American rivalry is marred by nationalism. Millions of Mexicans would do anything to make sure the Mexicans come out on top in Matches at Azteca. Mexico has a deep seated inferiority complex when it comes to its relations with America. Mexicans don’t have anything except soccer where they are better than the Americans. And the everyday mexican has some sense of that feeling to some degree. That is why when americans go to Azteca, they get so harassed – the team and the spectators.
If they just have clubs teams, a lot of that hate and animosity is taken out of the equation. I am for healthy competition but take the nationalism out of it. Still have the World Cup and Olympics, but have clubs, teams, and individuals in the games – not countries. It is just too divisive. The emphasis would be more on celebrating the quality of the play on the field rather than the artificial sense of achievement and entitlement that comes with having national teams involved.
I think when you bring nationalism into sport there is loss of civility that ends up happening somewhere along the line to a greater or lesser extent.
a lack of young, attacking talent…
and expecting Ramires to provide some offense…
What’s the point of this post? To belittle somebody elses experience?
Relief. But we still have to turn it around. Glad to get points on a weekend that manure and arsenal drop points.
You must live a very sheltered life. To each their own. If you were happy at that moment, then I was happy for you. And that is what counts , right? It is all about our own happiness.
just post the pics! i dont wanna read about it.
whoops!!! I wanna see pics as proof.
I heard the commentator said that Chelsea started having trouble winning after the the dismissal of of Ray Wilkins.
It’s the stars / big teams thing.
Lakers vs Kings/Twolves in the Shaq/Kobe days
Heat vs Mavs in the NBA Finals
Red Sox and Yankees at home and even on the road against smaller teams
Tom Brady
etc.
Officiating in Chelsea-Bolton really makes you wonder whether officials are paid off or its just human nature to give calls to the bigger stars..
First an offside and then no penalty on the Terry handball. Should have been 1-0 Bolton today. I’ve seen this countless times in the Premier League over the years. Chelsea, Man United and even Arsenal and Liverpool getting wins they don’t deserve.
Agreed that Cech isn’t really that old. Plus, keepers seem to age better than field players. So, strike him from the list (although I think he is on the downside of his career, due to his head injury).
The point is that most of the top field players at Chelsea are now 30 or older. Which means that they can’t sustain the high level any more – especially coming off of a World Cup last summer.
Chelsea has no luck.. Don’t make me laugh
Chelsea did not deserve to win today
Cech? Isn’t ManU’s goalie like 60 and still playing?
Also – age is catching up with them.
Their main players – Lampard (age 32), Terry (30), Cole (30), Drogba (32), Anelka (31), Malouda (30) and Cech (28) are all on the downsides of their careers now. They have brought in very few younger players who are making an impact. As a Chelsea fan, I am continually frustrated to see ManU and Arsenal bring in much younger players who are producing now.
Forgot to mention the Wigan handball in the wall on a free kick. Arsenal should’ve been given a penalty there at the end. Oh well, same sh!t different game
First Wigan goal (PK) came from a flop in the box. Then N’Zogbia gets sent off from a Wilshere flop a la Materazzi / Zidane. Flopping and diving are still a major problem and have got to be addressed. The Premier League should review matches and issue cards / fines postgame.
BTW, what was up with the DW Stadium pitch? Guys were slipping all over the place. Sucks
Arsenal tied by a PK and own goal. You got to be freaking kidding me….
BANG
BANG
BANG
(My head on my desk…)
Looked like they just wanted some fresh legs out there. Maybe a tad frustrated with his chances and the refs, haha.
He was just gassed. He ran his arse off the entire game, 100% effort all the time.
Holden subbed out, and of course Bolton now look a bit clueless.
I missed it when it happened, why is Holden out? He was doing quite well from what I saw.
I’ve seen it and , well, it’s perfectly believable
Holden ran his lungs dry, good shift. Unlucky that Bolton come away empty.
Without Stu on the pitch Bolton look really lost.
Arsenal giving points away. Damnit you gooners.
Nice one, Stu. He gives his all every single game.
