Saputo Stadium set for expansion

SaputoStadium

With the Montreal Impact joining Major League Soccer in 2012, the club is taking the necessary steps to try to make its home, Saputo Stadium, on par with some of the league's top facilities.

The Impact is putting $23 million into a stadium expansion, which will increase the park's capacity from 13,034 to 20,341 ahead of the team's first match in MLS.

Renovations are set to begin in May, with the completion date set for next March. The stadium will continue to be an open-air stadium, though a third of it will be covered by a new roof.

Are you excited for the Impact to join MLS? Think the new Saputo Stadium will be among the best in the league?

  1. well… maybe that’s accurate with Canadians from the 90s but if we go by the current exchange rate… that’s around 22 000 Americans. 😉

  2. Most people replying to comments online in a nasty manner tend to be thin-skinned. You just aren’t aware of all the rest of us (I am Canadian) who just scroll by laughing. I love Americans, as crazy as you all are, Ha!. Yes, some of us are rather thick-skinned and have a good sense of humour.

    Go Whitecaps!
