UEFA Europa League final: Your Running Commentary

PortoLogo BragaLogo

FC Porto didn't lose to a single team from Portugal all season en route to an undefeated domestic championship campaign. Sporting Braga would love nothing more than to snap that streak today.

The two Portuguese sides meet for the UEFA Europa League championship in Dublin, Ireland (2:45 p.m., DirecTV 480), where one will claim European silverware. The appearance is Braga's first in a major European final, while Porto will be looking for its first major trophy since capturing the 2003-2004 UEFA Champions League.

Porto, guided by coach-on-the-rise Andre Villas-Boas, is led by the potent strike tandem of Falcao and Hulk. Braga coach Domingos Paciencia, a former Porto forward, will look to spring his second consecutive upset of a Portuguese power after his club topped Benfica in the semifinal.

If you will be watching the title match, either on television or via live Internet feed, please feel free to share any thoughts, opinions and some play-by-play in the comments section below. Enjoy the action.

  1. I also wouldnt consider Porto beating Benfica in the semis an upset and Braga in the final upsets considering they won the league undefeated by 21 points…

  2. Not to pic nits Avi, but pretty sure Porto has won lots of major (domestic) trophies since the Champions League title in 2004.

  3. Neither FOX Sports, ESPN Inc., or GOLTV wanted to pay UEFA any money for a 2nd tier competitiion.

DIRECTV was the only bidder for the U.S. media rights to the UEFA Europa League.

GOLTV swapped 114 La Liga matches (7th-9th picks, essentially the leftovers after GOLTV and ESPN Inc. made their picks) to DIRECTV in change for 45 UEFA Europa League matches, including tape-delay rights to the final.

  4. Falcao is a beast! he was awesome in river(arg) & this coming from a huge BOCA fan. kinda shocked he hasn’t been connected w/ every big club. heard a couple of rumors, but he SHOULD be in every big club’s list.

  8. Have you heard or seen more than just that one clip that was posted here within the last 2 weeks? If so, is all the music as good as the first one? Do you have a lead on the band who makes the Songs?

    Thanks in advanced

  9. I was really hoping that the FFF would get their music from the same people who do Rizeport’s music. That stuff is amazing.

  10. Thanks for that, I didn’t know they had exclusive rights. Still ridiculous for a competition that they want to be taken seriously though.

  11. DirecTV has exclusive rights to the final. It’s not really Gol’s fault. I agree its outrageous that this game isn’t on regular tv.
