  1. Hart > Green. Hart is still a young player. Did you watch him play when he was on loan at Birmingham City? Some of these comparisons to far more experienced keepers are little iffy.

  2. In fairness to Milner, he was recovering from the flu when England played us in the WC.

In the early part of the EPL season, Milner looked great for Aston Villa, and easily the most exciting young English midfielder. But once he went to City, he couldn’t really find his place. To be sure, he was usually in the starting 11, but he just didn’t have an effect on the matches. I guess that’s City in a nutshell: lots of expensive, talented players, difficulty finding a system that plays to all of their strengths. While he could have played better, it wasn’t entirely Milner’s fault.

  3. ENG 2 SWIT 2

GER 2 AUS 1 (DYING MINUTE GOAL)

This is a sign of things to come.
The US might just make things happen today……

    GO USA!!!!

  4. Did you ever see Banks & Shilton in their prime or on a DVD? Hart is no Banks or Shilton who were arguably the best goal keepers in the world in their era’s..Banksy was amazing….no less than Pele said he was the best ‘keeper he ever faced…

  5. Guess you are looking at a different guy than me…nothing star like about him at all this early in his career….

I’d take Howard anyday over Hart…and I follow both countries for obvious reasons…

  6. Watching Hart makes me glad we have Howard…and Milner is one of the more overrated guys in the EPL in my opinion….Charundalo owned him in the World Cup as you may recall and he got pulled after 30 minutes with a yellow card gained out of frustration on his part….spoke to my Uncle (my mom is English), who lives outside Nottingham, at half time and he thinks Hart is still the answer to England’s goal keeping problems, but far from a lockdown ‘keeper as they had for years with Banks, Shilton and Seaman…agree’s with me on Milner too..

  7. Which flub is worse? Davies blown break away v. LA last night or Bent’s howler in front of net just now.

  8. Getting Vermaelen back could be the best present Arsenal receives during the summer silly (i.e., transfer) season. Arguably, he was the highest ROI buy by an EPL club for the 2009-2010 season.

  9. On the England result so far, I still think England gets at least a point out of the game. Armenia was holding its own in the 1st half before Russia subdued them in the 2nd.

But you got to wonder whether it is the coaching — on paper, you’d think England would not be too worried about the Swiss at home. On the other hand, on paper, you’d never guess France would lose to Belarus in France and would have to come back to grab 1 point in Belarus.

  10. On a slighly different note, I am watching Russia leading Armenia 2:1, but wondering whether Yura Movsisian ever considered playing for the US. He looks pretty decent.

  11. Goal Switzerland! 2-0, 35th at Wembley! Another terrible deadball goal, this time the 2 man wall splits to let it through, and it finds the bottom corner.

You can hear the panic from across the pond.

  12. Ha ha! Goal Switzerland in embarrassing fashion, a free kick is sent in to be headed, no one touches it, bounces into goal. 1-0, 33rd.
