It's been nearly five months since Javier Morales suffered the gruesome ankle injury that threatened to end his season, but the Real Salt Lake midfielder completed his comeback with a substitute appearance on Wednesday night.
Overshadowed by CONCACAF Champions League action, Morales made his first appearance since May 7 by coming off the bench and playing the final 30 minutes in Real Salt Lake's 3-0 defeat to Chicago. The result was not one Morales would have hoped for in his return match, but he did complete his recovery at Rio Tinto Stadium in front of a record crowd that has been supporting him all the way through.
Here's a video of Morales talking about his recovery as well as his return to the field:
hopefully we’ll be seeing a similar video about Zakuani soon
great player. great story. awesome to see him back on the field.
Javi’s back now let’s hope the rest of the lineup can clean up their D. A pathetic two game stint but amazing return by Javi.
As a Sounders fan its great to see a fantastic player back from an awful injury. His goal during the Concacaf final vs Monterrey was class, as is he.
from a Galaxy fan…Welcome Back! the league missed you
So glad to have him back. Too bad the result wasn’t better… Also, RSL always does the best videos
Yay
Great video. Though a Galaxy fan, I’m very happy to see him return. Better for the league to have people of his class & ability involved in MLS
What a class act! Glad Javy’s back . . .
