LA Galaxy vs. Real Salt Lake: Match Night Commentary

The Los Angeles Galaxy take on Real Salt Lake tonight in a match-up of Western Conference powers, and a game that could draw the Galaxy to the verge of the MLS Supporters Shield.

Real Salt Lake will try to spoil the Galaxy's party, while also snapping their own two-match losing skid. RSL has been outscored 7-1 in their past two matches, though one game was played with mostly reserves and the other was played for much of the match down a man.

Tonight marks a special moment for RSL, with playmaker Javier Morales making his first start for Real Salt Lake since the broken ankle that sidelined him for the past four months. He will try to help RSL pick up the slack for suspended captain Kyle Beckerman.

SBI will be providing live commentary on tonight's match, so please feel free to follow along here. As always, you are welcome to share your own thoughts and opinions on the match in the comments section below.

  1. Bologna…Did you watch the Morelia game? The midfield is LA’s strongest asset. Thy were hustling tonight. This isn’t NY’s defense. RSL’s defense was superb tonight.

This rivalry is intensifying. I wouldn’t mind seeing this matchup in the playoffs.

  2. We’re back to playing the way we did early in the season. Too slow, not enough attacking, laziness in the midfield. Arena is our greatest asset and also our greatest weakness. He’s incredible at keeping a team’s form. That form is why we don’t lose often. It’s also the reason we don’t play creatively. I can admit that our games are boring but we win. If any team can disrupt that form like Dallas did last year we’re screwed.

  3. Ricketts should be starting in the league and CCL play, if he’s the starter start him because I think Saunders has had his time on the field. On a side not, wouldn’t it be crazy if the Galaxy ended up choking up the Supporters Shield?

  4. I’m tired of hearing how great Saunders is by the geeky Galaxy commentators. Galaxy defense is solid regardless, but the team is so much better with Ricketts in there.

  5. Memo to Bruce Arena: Bryan Jordan should be playing in NASL, not the highest profile 1st Division club.

Where is Frankie Hejduk? His experience and and offense makes him much better than Jordan. Frankie has looked good in his few outings this season.
