CONCACAF Champions League: Match Night Commentary

CCLLogo

Three MLS teams will continue their quests to become the first Major League Soccer club to win the CONCACAF Champions League title as the quarterfinals kick off tonight in Toronto and Seattle.

The defending MLS Cup champion LA Galaxy take on Toronto FC at Rogers Center as almost 50,000 TFC fans gather to cheer on the clear underdogs in the first leg of this all-MLS quarterfinal (8pm, Fox Soccer Channel).

In Seattle, the Sounders take on Mexican club Santos Laguna in the first leg of what is widely regarded as the toughest match-up of the quarterfinals (10pm, Fox Soccer Channel). American forward Herculez Gomez will be in the lineup for a dangerous Santos side coming off a 5-2 victory against Tecos.

The Sounders boast one of the strongest squads in MLS, and will mark the official Seattle debut for goalkeeper Michael Gspurning as well as Eddie Johnson, who is expected to see playing time after recovering from a hamstring injury.

SBI will be providing live commentary on tonight's matches so please feel free to follow along here. As always, you are welcome to share your thoughts and opinions in the comments section below.

  1. No, LA is just stacked. Buddle and Keane were pests all night, and this was after limited training.

Well-fought game by both sides. I can’t take anything away from Toronto.

  2. Toronto has done **** all this entire half, if LA were actually playing decent they would have put this game away already. I expect them to win big in the second leg, 2-2 haha take that Toronto.

Toronto is still terrible. I wish both teams could lose somehow.

  3. L.A. has not looked good today, disjointed in the midfield, nobody is willing to take players on in good positions on the wing. Landon has been invisible too.

  4. He continually refers to Toronto’s 2011 as a disaster. He ignores that they have improved dramatically under Winter and his system. They have beaten some good teams to get this far into the tourney.

    Biased commentary

‘MLS should be embarrassed to allow games on this kind of crap field turf!’

-MLS should be embarrassed that most cities/teams don’t have this type atmosphere!

  6. Might as well watch the Concacaf stream, then you don’t have to bother with all the firstrow add nonsence being vomited all over your screen.

Btw, anyone know who the name of the announcer is on the concacaf stream? Guy is awesome

  7. Wow, this Boyens kid is horrible. Todd Dunivant did horribly on that corner too, the whole defense looks bad without Omar.

  8. Just got home and tuned in. Plata looks to be an exciting player (only really saw highlights last season of TFDC matches).

And like that, TFC up 2-0 off a sweet header. Welcome to professional footy Luis Silva, and this match is off to a terrific start.

  9. firstrowsportsDOTeu should do the trick…

Does anyone know if myp2p whatever after the DOT is up now? They were down at the end of last year….

But why you streaming, it’s on Telefutura nationwide, the great nicknames the Spanish commentators give MLS players alone makes it worth it lol
