  1. Klinsmann makes a great point about the fear of young players in MLS.

Young players get the shaft, regardless of their skill. Case in point, Danny Mwanga inexplicably doesn’t start for Philadelphia. Wrap your head around that.

    Omar Salgado….

“Sources tell Fox Soccer that the Whitecaps have not only rejected trade inquiries within MLS about the 18-year-old forward, but also turned down an opportunity for a loan deal to Europe, as well as potential loan moves to the NASL.”

And the same thing with Agudelo. He just continues to rot on the bench despite good performances every time he saw the pitch. They go out and buy another MLS journeyman striker instead of giving their own players a chance.

It’s an epidemic in MLS and I think it hurts the league considerably. You just have journeymen playing everywhere.

Lee Nyguen is another example. After being bounced around from team to team and nobody wanting to give him a spot over an older player, NE stepped up. And he’s been one of their stars so far, and a major reason they’ve been playing at a high level.

  2. Klinsmann is telling his young MLS players, no minutes, no consideration. He also said in a longer interview that he was going to meet with Garber about lack of playing time for the young players in MLS. My guess is that Garber will tell him that’s a long way off. If Klinsmann wants his young players to develop, he’ll need to find loans once more.
