MLS Week 22: Your Running Commentary

A showdown between the season’s top two teams in the Eastern Conference headlines a packed Saturday of MLS action.

Sporting Kansas City have been undefeated since last month’s 2-1 loss to the Montreal Impact, and they will look to extend their six-match unbeaten run with some revenge on the former Eastern Conference leaders. The Impact enter Saturday night’s clash at Stade Saputo in the midst of a five-match winless skid, but they should receive a boost from the return of top striker Marco Di Vaio.

Elsewhere, Supporters Shield leaders Real Salt Lake will try to bounce back from last week’s heartbreaking loss to SKC in their road meeting with the New York Red Bulls. Out West, a shorthanded Los Angeles Galaxy squad head to Dick’s Sporting Goods Park for a matchup against Western Conference foes Colorado.

Here is a rundown of today’s MLS schedule:

Enjoy the action.

  1. Two simple finishes from well slotted balls across the goal and hoping (as a neutral) the Dynamo v Fire match is just getting started.

  2. Somebody needs to open an academy to teach MLS players how to cross balls. The crossing in MLS is shambolic. The RB Sean Franklin for the LA Galaxy wasn’t paying attention when Beckham was a teammate.

  3. Nyrb with two nice headers but espindola doing the South American thing by all of as sudden getting vertigo and falling super easily. Weak PKs given by ref. ref has given 7 penalties in his MLS career but bites on two dives by espindola.

  4. Two unbelievably bad teams produce a stinker. Toronto celebrates ke they won the MLS Cup. Could the Crew have done any more to gift them the game? That seas of red seats looked pretty colourful though.

  5. I hate myself for watching so many TFC games. But they’re fond of the early afternoon kick, and nobody else is on, so…

    Awful from Bendik. 1-0 Crew.
