The U.S. Men’s National Team closes out the Hexagonal Round of World Cup qualifying tonight with a visit to Panama City to take on a Panama side that desperately needs a win to have any hope of reaching the World Cup (9:30pm, beIN Sport).

Jurgen Klinsmann will be trotting out a starting lineup with plenty of players getting a rare chance to start in qualifying, and the match will serve as another audition for players looking to earn their places on the 2014 USMNT World Cup team.

For Panama, the task is simple. Win and hope for Mexico to lose to Costa Rica and the Canaleros can reach the World Cup Qualifying playoff series vs. New Zealand.

SBI will be providing live commentary on tonight’s match so please feel free to follow the action here. As always, you are welcome to share your thoughts and opinions in the comments section below.

  1. One-goal win by Panama and one-goal loss by Mexico sees Panama qualify for the playoffs on the basis on total goals scored. Is that right?

  2. Put in Johannsson and Wondolowski in front. Take out Altidore and Bedoya put in Brad Davis in Midfield and take out Orozco and put in Beasley.

  4. So, just to confirm. A one goal win for Panama and a one goal loss for Mexico would see Panama through to the playoff? The have the tie breaker after goal differential?

  5. Come on Costa Rica!!!!!!! Quit taking it easy. Get 2 or 3 more goals and put Mexico to rest. I know you guys have qualified but come on.

  6. Well, my stream just switched to Sons of Anarchy. I’m not sure it’s worth seeking out another one. The dude streaming it must have felt it’s time to watch something else.

  7. Sometimes you don’t know how you’ll react to a situation until it happens.

I told myself that I would never root against the US and that Mexico making the WC would be good for the Confederation. Now? I’m watching MEX-CRC on Telemundo and hoping our B- team tanks against Panama. Am I a bad fan?

  8. Soccer By Ives: We must be watching different matches because nothing the USA has been doing in this game ‘looks good’! Panama is penetrating our defense like a leaky sieve and everyone out there looks like they’re afraid to get too close to any Panama player with the ball. : (

  9. What’s going on with Guzan and goal (free) kicks?? He keeps kicking them out of play. He did the same for Aston Villa in the last game.

    • What channel is the Honduras game on? Since the US game is not on any TV that is generally available in the US, I am am watching Mexico on Telemundo. At least they showed the Honduras highlights so far.

    • Evans does not play RB for Sounders FC and, therefore, every time he plays RB for the US helps get him comfortable at the position. Also the US only has a handful of games before Brazil so every game Evans plays there is huge.

Also Cameron is a known quantity so I’m sure the coach wants to get a look at others at CB.

  11. Orozco over Cameron a bit of a surprise for me. Kljestan needs to have a solid match to get himself in the conversation and Zusi needs to build off of his sub preformance.

  12. I’m more excited to see the new faces starting than to see the full strength squad. Hopefully we see a few guys step up and take over the game!
