The emotions don’t get much higher than derby matches, and the English Premier League schedulers have a treat for you on Saturday with Liverpool and London derbies in store.
It will be worth waking up early on Saturday morning for another installment of the Merseyside Derby as Steven Gerrard’s Liverpool will hope for a home crowd advantage against Tim Howard and Everton. Both teams are off to a slow start, providing even more impetus to go for the full three points.
In the early afternoon Arsenal will welcome Tottenham Hotspur to the Emirates for what should be another heated affair, and there are a couple other EPL games of not sandwiched in between.
In La Liga, the most competitive match of the day on Saturday looks to be Atletico Madrid against Sevilla in a morning fixture at the Vicente Calderón. Real Madrid will travel to play Villarreal, while Barcelona has a home game against Granada.
In MLS play, the stars will be out on Sunday night for the big tilt between the LA Galaxy and the New York Red Bulls. Both sides should be going all out as the Galaxy push to send Landon Donovan out with a Supporters’ Shield trophy, while the Red Bulls still need to solidify a playoff spot.
There will be two competitive Eastern Conference matches as well with Sporting Kansas City hosting the New England Revolution on Friday and the Philadelphia Union playing D.C. United on Saturday afternoon. Later that day, Vancouver will be fighting for their playoff lives against Real Salt Lake.

Sat morning at 745a it is. Merseyside Derby. Go Red Dragons.
Wow, and I can remember when the only soccer you could get on TV was the finals of the World Cup. Then, about a decade, later PBS had one game a week, on tape delay, from the Bundesliga. Times certainly have changed.
What a crappy Sunday. Saturday has all the firepower.
As a redbull fan, sad to say I agree. Maybe I’ll go do something… nope. watching anyway.
Cool to see Rowdies and Strikers on ESPN3, plus LA-NY on Sunday, didn’t know ESPN did soccer anymore ( away from a bundled college sport package )
This is what daddy likes !
Go Galaxy!
