Liverpool can throw a wrench into the race for UEFA Champions League spots in England in a meeting with Southampton on Sunday.

Four points behind the Saints, Liverpool’s trip to the south coast is the highlight of the weekend. Southampton will try to avenge a 2-1 loss suffered at the hands of the Reds on opening day in August.

Dejan Lovren, Rickie Lambert and Adam Lallana could all make an appearance at St. Mary’s for the first time since switching to Liverpool over the summer. The Reds are currently unbeaten in six outings, while Southampton has two wins from its last five games.

Rivals clash in Italy when Sampdoria hosts Genoa on Saturday. Other than sharing a city, both clubs sit on 35 points, with Genoa just ahead on goal difference in sixth place. Sampdoria will be looking for a season sweep after winning 1-0 the last time the clubs met in August.

Barcelona’s continued quest to knock-off Real Madrid faces a stiff test in a home match against Malaga. A win would see them top the table at least briefly, with Real Madrid facing Elche the following day.

Cruz Azul has its unbeaten record tested again with a home game against CD Guadalajara in Liga MX play. Two giants at the opposite ends of the standings meet on Sunday when Club America plays Pumas.
