It just does not get much more clutch than Paulo Nagamura’s performance from this past weekend.
After giving up a foul that wound up turning into a free kick goal from Pedro Morales that gave the Vancouver Whitecaps a 3-1 lead, Nagamura made amends and then some. The Sporting Kansas City midfielder followed up a late Dom Dwyer goal by scoring twice in the final minutes to help his club flip the script and pick up an enthralling 4-3 victory at home.
Nagamura’s performance not only earned Sporting KC three big points, but also saw him claim the SBI MLS Player of the Week honors. He beat out Obafemi Martins, Robbie Keane, Kwadwo Poku, and Cristian Maidana for the distinction.
The veteran Brazilian scored his first goal of the match in the 87th minute of the match, pulling Sporting KC level with a well-hit, one-timed strike near the top of the penalty area. Nagamura wasn’t done, however, as he flicked a cross into the back of the net seconds before the fourth and final minute of stoppage time came to a close.
What do you think about Nagamura being named SBI’s MLS Player of the Week? Would you have given it to someone else? Who else stood out to you during this round of action?

Well deserved honors! That was the greatest comeback I have seen and he did it! Best match ever! Thanks for giving that award. Great choice!
