Before Mexico takes the field in Saturday’s clash with the U.S. Men’s National Team, they will have to defeat the injury bug that has claimed yet another key player.

The Mexican Federation announced Tuesday that Jose Juan “Gallito” Vazquez is set to miss out on Saturday’s CONCACAF Cup meeting with the USMNT due to thigh and calf issues. The Leon midfielder will return to his club for treatment and has been replaced by Elias Hernandez on the Mexico roster.

Vasquez started each of Mexico’s group stage contests in the 2014 World Cup and featured once for El Tri at this past summer’s Gold CUp.

The midfielder, one of Liga MX’s most accurate passers, joins Giovani dos Santos and Carlos Pena among El Tri players set to miss out on Saturday’s clash due to injury. Andres Guardado and Rafael Marquez, meanwhile, are set to feature after returning early from their own injury woes.

What do you think of Vasquez’s injury? What type of lineup do you expect from Mexico in light of all of the injuries?

  1. Blessing in disguise. This means that Jonathan will likely take his place. I’d much rather have him than Gallito.

This could mean the line up may look like this
    Vela Hernandez
    Guardado Herrera
    Jonathan
    Layun Jimenez/Aguilar
    Moreno Marquez Reyes
