Entering the weekend, the LA Galaxy had lost just once at StubHub Center this season. Saturday, the Portland Timbers made that two with a statement performance that all but booked a spot in the postseason.
The Timbers erased an early deficit with a trio of goals in a nine-minute span to defeat the LA Galaxy while earning recognition as SBI MLS Team of the Week.
Fanendo Adi proved to be the Timbers’ prime contributor, as the forward fired goals three minutes apart to give his side the 2-1 lead. A goal from Diego Chara soon followed before Darlington Nagbe and Maximiliano Urruti canceled out an additional Keane finish to seal a resounding victory. The win moves the Timbers one step closer to the postseason as the club now sits fourth in the Western Conference.
With the win, the Timbers have now won three straight road games in their push to the playoffs, with their latest win seeing the club top the Montreal Impact, FC Dallas and Columbus Crew for SBI MLS Team of the Week honors.
What did you think of the Timbers’ performance? Which team stood out to you as SBI MLS Team of the Week?

All aboard the bandwagon!
Mr. Gerrard? Hi, I’m Diego Valeri. I’ll be owning you tonight.
They beat the Galaxy on Saturday too??
My Timbers have been nothing short of frustrating throughout the entire season; tons of potential but disappointing results. So relieved to be winning Team of the Week at this point in the season though. Let’s hope it’s a sign of what’s to come. The defense has been there all year. All we really want is goals.
I don’t think LA is a good barameter. They have soooo many weaknesses Portland exposed.
