John Brooks recently recovered from a spell on the bench with Hertha Berlin, and he got himself back on the scoresheet for the first time in almost a year on Saturday with a game-winning goal.
Brooks scored a thumping header in the 60th minute to push Hertha Berlin to a 2-1 home win over Bayer Leverkusen. Javier ‘Chicharito’ Hernandez had found the back of the net in the first half to bring Bayer Leverkusen level at 1-1, but Brooks rose high to nod home a corner kick from Marvin Plattenhardt.
The goal was the 22-year-old centerback’s first of the season, and first since Dec. 17, 2014. It also moved Hertha Berlin into fourth place and the lone UEFA Champions League qualifiers spot in the German Bundesliga.

Not sure why I should get excited over some German scoring in a Bundesliga game.
That’s all we got.
And US Soccer banning headers?!
Lol
I don’t know what that has to do with anything. All of our best players come from Germany anyways.
Yes, and I support them. 6 – 11 yr should not be practicing headers. Frankly, I think it should start occur until 13
brilliant.
……he was also responsible for Chicharito’s goal so….
So what…All in all a decent day? What’s it with rain and parades?
Was he? On the short replay it looks like Hernandez was going against the right cb and Brooks was occupied with another attacker..correct me if you saw the game.
Either way he scored the winning goal so advantage JAB
100%. JAB was solely responsible for keeping Chicha onside. but overall he had a strong game.
