Soccer Friday: Your Running Commentary

Domestic play will be in action around Europe on Friday, while two teams can punch their tickets to Rio tonight in Olympic qualifying semifinals.

After extending its win streak to 13 matches last weekend, Juventus has the opportunity to put pressure on the rest of the Italian Serie A field with a win against Bologna. The Bianconeri currently hold a one-point lead over Napoli at the top of the table.

The U.S. Women’s National Team can progress to the CONCACAF Olympic qualifying final over the weekend with a victory against Trinidad & Tobago. In the other semifinal, Costa Rica meets Canada.

Despite sitting third and ninth, respectively, on the Ligue 1 table, Nice and Bordeaux have much to play for today. The two sides come into Friday’s clash separated by only four points, and a win for either side will go a long way in capturing one of the league’s four European slots.
