Another league title was clinched this week as the European seasons approach their ends. Here are SBI’s picks for the weekend’s best (as voted by SBI’s editorial staff):

PLAYER OF THE WEEK

LUIS SUAREZ (BARCELONA). In the span of four days, the 29-year-old Uruguayan striker scored eight goals to help Barcelona end their winless run and stay atop the Spanish La Liga table. Suarez now has a league-leading 34 goals this season.

Honorable Mention – Gareth Bale, Leonardo Ulloa

TEAM OF THE WEEK

JUVENTUS. The “Old Lady” clinched their fifth consecutive Italian Serie A title with a 2-1 road win over Fiorentina on Sunday and with second-place Napoli’s 1-0 loss to AS Roma on Monday morning.

Honorable Mention – Leicester City, Bayern Munich, Real Madrid

MATCH OF THE WEEK

RAYO VALLECANO 2, REAL MADRID 3. Without Cristiano Ronaldo and many first-choice starters, Real Madrid produced a come-from-behind win against relegation-threatened Rayo. Madrid went down, 2-0, within the first 14 minutes of the game, but Gareth Bale scored two goals to lead the comeback.

Honorable Mention – Manchester United 2 – 1 Everton, Schalke 2 – 3 Bayer Leverkusen

GOAL OF THE WEEK

JAVI GOMEZ (UD SOCUELLAMOS). This week’s winner plays in the third tier of Spanish soccer, but the goal is of world-class quality. Gomez chested the ball before unleashing a rocket of an overhead kick against CD Toledo.

Honorable Mention – Mubarak WakasoVictor AyalaMarcel Risse
